Movie review thread...

Jennifers Body 
 
Megan Fox lezzes up & goes demonic. I was expecting it to be utterly shit, but it was actually watchable. Needed to be a lot scarier, sort of falls between funny (intentionally) & scary, but not enough of either. The good joke lines sort of get lost a bit. And theres no hooters. Not even side-boob. 
 
Think its got slagged a bit cause everyone is expecting Juno 2, and because people have sort of had enough of Fox. 
 
Probably one to pick up on DVD when it gets in the bargain bin, or watch on Sky in a year

Bell is a hit woman...never really notice Kiwi's accents much on TV, but by god hers is strong!!

I've actually been noticing Lawless' accent on BSG, it's mixed but very Kiwi. 
 
Mogwai: I don't know how anyone could think Jennifer's Body could be anything like Juno going by the shorts.

Lucy was barely noticable, only a small role inthis film, but Bell's was very strong.

I have just seen what I think has been the best movie of the year so far. The Hurt Locker. Kicks. Fucking. Arse. 
 
Hard to believe its a women director. Not that a women can't direct a war movie, just they don't usually. 
 
She is James Cameron's ex though.

Have you seen 'Generation Kill' Razbra? The Hurt Locker has the same feel to me as the TV show - which is all good.

When I first heard about Hurt locker My mate told me is was like Over There...which at the time I thought was a great show(lasted one season) but after watching this that show was pants. Like 90210 in the dessert.

Saw a bloody good thriller starring the ever awesome Samuel L Jackson as the kind of cop who would suck to have as a neigbour, "Lakeview terrace".....he sure isn't happy that the black woman who has just moved in isn't married to a "brother"..... 
 
SLJ is hilariously loud as always but also seriously menacing at the same time.

Took the kids to the 3D version and can report ..take your kids before its gone! Excellent movie.

Funny People with Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen etc... 
 
Really strong first hour then it fades. Hard. 
 
The stand up comedy is really good, apparently the Director got them to write their own material. Sandler is really starting to get some good roles these days... wonder when/if we'll get Happy Gilmore 2 - The Tigers Tale! 
 
First half = 8/10 
Second half = 3/10

Yeah, it went from being an interesting funny film, to quite forumulaic. 
 
Would have been better if [spoiler:280ukmgi]Sandler had died instead of getting better[/spoiler:280ukmgi]

Saw the Soloist the other night. Really strong performances from Robert Downy Jr and Jamie Foxx and a true story. I say story, but it's more of a slice of life deal. Very good portrayal of mental illness on screen though, very disorientating at times. 
 
Oscar bait written all over it though, which can be a bit trying.
