Razor has said he will now finalise assistants so it sounds like that won't be announced for a few days yet.

    Take Holland. Please.

I'm always impressed by Holland's attack structures so would be happy with him as an assistant.

I'm glad at least they got it done now. Some predictability going forward. Now let's hope Foster does a Donald, and Razor doesn't do a Ben Atiga.

Ryan and a new defence coach plus Holland on attack I guess?

There was talk of Hansen as well. I guess it depends on how many assistants you are allowed, and how specific their roles are. Does Ryan, for example, coach the forwards and scrum?

Dame Patsy speaks well. The less of CEO Robinson speaking the better.

@KiwiMurph yeah if Holland is in charge of the canes attack, I have been impressed with some of the thier running lines and players in motion they have been using.

    Defence coach will be interesting....

Did NZR balls up this announcement? It's a big event so leave it a few days. To get more media attention

    This take is a reach.

They announced it quickly. It's the lead story in NZ.

He will likely have his best year. But maybe holland is best suited to an assistant's role. The key id who will replace him

Well, I am happy. NZ needs an innovator at this period of time (definitely not a caretaker). However, big learning curve for Razor though. It won't be easy! I am hoping a Schmitt or Cotter or someone similar will have a position in the new team.

@Bovidae said in Foster, Robertson etc:

This place will be fun if we get a repeat of the Cantablacks of the Mitchell/Deans era. There might be some TSF favourites on the outer.

I'm not going to be surprised if that's exactly what happens.

I really don't see that, Razor has about as different as a coaching philosophy from Deans as you can get.

Robbie had a gameplan & built the team around that, he never wavered from that & it hurt Australia big time.

Razor is quite the opposite, he looks at what he has available & builds a gameplan around accentuating their strengths. I think he's a much better coach.

Good question. Hard act to follow even if they don't win this year

@Winger I think that Goodman has always been part of the succession plan.

Robbie had a gameplan & built the team around that, he never wavered from that and it cost him with Aus.

Razor is quite the opposite, he looks at what he has available & builds a gameplan around accentuating their strengths.

The question is whether he sees what is available outside of Canterbury. We won't know until he selects his first squad, but it's the sort of mistake an inexperienced coach would make.

We've seen it slightly with Foster, Cane as captain. Sowakula's bizarre selection.

I reckon backs coach will be Brown, Razor wanted him last time (as did Foster I think), but he said he wanted to finish job with Jamie at Japan, that's now finished. You read it here first!

@Kirwan given preparation seems to be a big part of his successes to date, he has alot of months to get himself prepared for his first naming in what, May 2024?

Geez, that is a long time to wait now...

It's weird having two All Black coaches. Modern times I guess.

I wonder if he's going to the World Cup as an observer? Would be vital as a learning experience wouldn't it? Or just disruptive?

@Kirwan surely he'll be there as a private citizen (some sponsor will host him), too much to scope out with oppositions as well as our own team
