@Kruse as a motorcyclist I always try to keep in mind what disparity exists between what I'm riding and what they're driving.

Overtaking a proper performance car on my adv bike is a dumb idea if they want to get a move on too.

Good big vehicle beats good little vehicle.

Actually... one thing I learned after watching all the Fast&Furious nonsense... apparently it's nothing to do with the vehicle, but all about the driver.

@Tim Na+ should be cheaper, have no concerns over things such as cobalt, and suit the city car market quite well.

What will the naysayers complain about then? ๐Ÿ˜‰

That is a genuine game changer.

I'm assuming the girl in the boot is a costly extra.

These batteries are better for short-range cars but the next few years are going to be awesome for EVs. Maybe not so much for Toyota Honda Subaru (and Mazda?) who are making the jump very very late.

They could charge another $500 to remove that badge and people would pay it.

You have to pay 750 for any colour but white. I could remove it, they're just glued on, but I'm not that bothered

Maybe they could offer a revised version:

"A new era of universal electrification of sea, land and air transportation." CATL announces new battery that doubles energy intensity.

How does this compare to Tesla batteries?

    @Tim they're a little under 300Wh/kg last I checked.

Nearly doubled the range for the same weight. Probably benefits aircraft applications too

Currently doing about 45 minutes on a charge. This could double that or more with reserve.

If its scalable and cost effective

@nzzp also allows a larger sweet spot between weight and required flying time. If you really only need 50 minutes you can still cut a bunch of weight.

Rented one of those today ("Mevo") - for a quick blast across the Rimutakas and back, in rain, first time I've driven 4-wheels in a LOOOONG time.
Cars have plenty of fucking shit going on in them nowadays, don't they? Or is that just these 'lectric ones? Bloody big tablet in the middle, which I did NOT expect to turn landscape-to-portrait - even if that's what the button quite clearly showed it would do.
The Adaptive-Cruise-Control was quite nice... I did a BIG chunk of the trip with that turned on, and just letting the car in front dictate the pace.

@Kruse Yeah electric cars, even base ones, are starting to get a lot of tech. Because you pay more than the equiv petrol, they often have a high base model spec

Basically take the top spec model and add $15-20k to it for the drivetrain. Gets all the toys
