Saw 2012 , the story was as predictable as hell but i thought it was worth the price of admision for the special effects alone . 8/10
Saw Avatar . Not a bad film but at nearly three hours it dragged out a little . Still well worth going to see . 7/10
Saw The Time Travellers Wife . Movie was ok but a few bits were a little slow and pointless , i still enjoyed it though . Mrs Jack had just finished the book which meant she found the movie a little disappointing as she said the book was brilliant . 6/10

you generally get a double sided DVD with a 2d version & a 3d version & give away shit 3d glasses. thats what pretty much all of the 3d releases have done. Interestingly (or not) 3D movies MASSIVELY underperform on DVD, they are a real stinker, probably because people assume you have to watch them in 3D,

Watched Avatar (like everyone else) over the break, pretty good, great CGI - after 30 minutes or so you forget its CGI, which is pretty much the hallmark of great CGI in my book. Story is a bit hokey but its still very entertaining.

Also watched Let The Right One In (Swedish vampire movie) very arty & surreal, I liked it but it was very strange, not scary or horrific, more like a work of art than a movie.

Watched that in the weekend as well. Thought it was pretty good. I liked the DaVinchi code as well. Like movies which uses real places as part of the plot - I think it makes it more interesting. This was an enjoyable movie, well recommended.

I saw Up in the Air this weekend. The Clooney flick where he plays a corporate downsizer who flies all around the country firing people. Pretty good movie, worth a watch, with a good story. It also has Vera Ann Farmiga in it, who played Leo di Caprio and Matt Damons' love interested in the Departed. I remembered her being pretty hot in the Departed. Not so much in this movie. Holy hell, she certainly aged in the last four years or so.

I also saw the Blindside, the Sandra Bullock movie based on the real life story of Ravens tackle Michael Oher and the Tuoey family who adopted him. While they certainly took quite a few liberties with the actual story, I really enjoyed the movie. In fact, I think it is a better sports movie than Invictus, and wquld recommend people see it before Invictus.

Saw Avatar last night and like others thought it was good. I have one question, is it weird that I was attracted to the Alien leading lady?

I've been reading a lot of Roman history during the holiday break. So I just had to re-watch Gladiator and marvel at the awesomeness that was the opening battle scene. Reading about the Roman army, how it was organized, the different weapons, how it fought, the movie seemed a good representation of what it must have been like to see a Roman force in battle.
Goffman you might have to buy the dvd...
An alien sex scene cut from Avatar to keep the film's PG13 rating could be included on the DVD release of the blockbuster hit movie, director James Cameron says.

Cameron said the film, which has already passed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office in just three weeks of release, would have several key scenes included on the DVD release.

One of these would be a sex scene between two Na'vi characters - Sam Worthington's Na'vi avatar Jake Sully, and Zoe Saldana's Ney'tiri, a member of an alien species.

"We had it in and we cut it out," Cameron said in a group interview, reported ReelzChannel.com.

"So that will be something for the special edition DVD, if you want to see how they have sex."

According to ReelzChannel.com, Saldana recently said filming the sex scene - of which only seconds were included in the version released to theatres - was difficult.

"It was a very funny scene to shoot because there were so many technical things that sometimes you have to keep in mind that paying attention to all those might disrupt the fluidity of how a scene is supposed to take place," she said.

"And because Jim was shooting for a PG-13 rating, we couldn’t move in certain directions. The motion would look a little too past the PG-13 rating standards. So it was really funny for Sam and me.

"We had a lot of giggles there."
Great movie alright. One of the best of the noughties, which let's face it haven't been that great movie wise. More 90s movies will survive the test of time than 00s movies IMO.

Another Ridley Scott fav of mine is Kingdom of Heaven - director's cut, much better than the theatrical version. If only he'd casted a decent lead in it, like Eric Bana for example, it would have been a great great movie. With Orlando Bloom it's just a good movie.

Saw Avatar in 3D last night. Fuck me. Coolest thing i have ever seen! Just brilliant. James Cameraon is about to have more money than god and oprah combined. Last time i was this blown away was after the first Matrix, which is now my favourite movie of all time. I may do a visit to the imax in Auckland later next week for a repeat. Astoundingly good, i can't rate it highly enough. And i agree the blue chick was hot.

PDP i love Kingdom of Heaven too.

Colonel Potter is 95 this year!!!! and has outlived a lot of the younger cast. I still think there is no better acting than Hawkeye's laugh. Gee it is contagious

Hard to go past the first couple seasons where they tormented Frank Burns.
