We seem to be a LF and a lock short, 6 props and 5 wingers is well - interesting. the balance of the squad seems a little off.

Feel sorry for Finau and Lord - both played their best with the chances they had but couldn't make their way in.

Happy Leister and Roigard made the cut, not overly amused that Laulala and Tamiti made it - still with 6 props they're the obvious 3 choice pairing so not that it's really going to hurt of front row combinations.

I still cant get my head around the wingers ,

especially if they start Telia at 11 ,

where do Leister and Clarke play ?

yep, this was the only reason I thought LF and Caleb were fighting for one spot..

well stylistically they are too similar to need both as well I would have thought ,

just take the one playing better

@Windows97 the 6 props is prudent and the right call.

I would’ve carried another lock with Retallick out early and a one less outside back.

I see Webber is being taken along as one of three out of squad players. Get him to room with Christie....

Apparently Finau, Webber and George Bell are going to join ABs for training for South Africa game. Aumua is out for a couple of months.

Wonder if they will try and get a quick contract with a French club for Finau etc? But there is time between games to fly players over anyway I think.

Ah, okay, it's in this Stuff article:

The All Blacks will play their final pre-tournament game against South Africa in London on August 26. Three players will travel as additional cover. They are hooker George Bell, Finau and Weber.

Read it online? Is that a failed attempt to be pedantic? 😉

Improved version, still spelling Laulala's name wrong.

Liam ‘great sauces’ Napier confirms that Samipeni Finau and Brad Weber were the two who were most unlucky to miss out.
