Well at least this year we won’t be able to say we weren’t given a warning…….

@Tordah Exactly. It's a meaningless game at the end of the day. Rather it happens here than in the QF.

Some of the pre match talk coming out of the ab camp about wanting to make a statement is looking a bit comical now

Hey didn't Telea and Roigard play well! Shame about the other 21. I found that excruciating with everything so slowed down. Wasn't the game meant to be sped up this year.

Anyways we can't cope with this style of officiating against an ultra powerful team. We'll done South Africa

Even if he does win the cup, this is not good enough.

Really? I'd have thought winning the RWC would come before a warm-up game.

Yes because ABs should be better than this, the RWC is top priority but it is not everything

This game wouldn't even be played if there wasn't a RWC.

Was still played and with our best team available foster collected another record, worst ever loss outright. To go with his previous equal worst ever loss. And first loss to Argentina's. Twice. Lowest ever world ranking. Worst loss versus Oz. Worst loss versus France. Home Series lots in Pro era. Etc etc

Never seen an ABs team physically dominated like this. Men against boys.

Ive seen it before, many times. But the likes of DC, Cory Jane , Dagg et al, caught their kicks and got us back down the field.

Beaudy and Richie are not doing that for us.

We are under the pump in our own half for a disproportionate amount of time.

    100% this.

The worst game I have ever seen us play. Just fucking depressing. Right now I am not sure I want to watch the world cup. Just a fucking joke !!!

I’ll be honest I thought the team seemed flat during the Anthem and Haka, just like their minds were already on France. SA to their credit were excellent and must be a serious challenger for the cup.

I don't know what was more painful. The AB performance, the ref, or the commentators I had to listen to.

Foster and Ryan have got a huge reality check.

Not necessarily, but I wouldn't write them off. Remember France losing to Tonga in the 2011 RWC pools? Who would have thought they'd get into the final and almost win?

ABs have shown earlier this year that they CAN play very well and dominate the Boks physically, just today the Boks won that contest, and quite clearly.

Hard lines. Felt like the reverse uno of Mt. Smart. Everything went right for the Boks and everything wrong for the ABs.

@Bones - hope the saffirs aren’t more than usually insufferable on the train back

Ouch that was a hiding! Our forwards were absolutely dominated (the first time sice Ryan has been there). I had feeling early part they were so worried about stopping maul, they forgot to compete. We had backfoot ball whole game, so backs were never going to do much. Was a mile away from the simple go forward stuff that has worked for us.

This results doesn't matter - it wouldn't if we'd won, I mean you aren't even going to face a side at the World Cup who makes seven forward changes. Likewise, the two yellows and a red dictated how we chased the game, with the knowledge there was no consequences of losing. We've seen the All Blacks play really bloody well this year, including bullying South Africa, so let's not overreact

BUT what was of major concern to me, was the way certain individuals, particularly the subs played. Coles was rubbish, Taukei'aho not much better IMO, but I at least felt he looked to get busy, and it was hard with the Boks having their tails up. Williams was destroyed though, Newell struggled, and both Lord and Vaa'i were terrible. I think I have said before, being down locks isn't that big a deal, because there is such a drop off from #3 to #4 that we will probably lose anyway. ALB was also crap.

Roigard was very good, as were Telea and Aaron Smith, so that is something to hang onto - I also felt the referee was particularly harsh on us, and on another day that game wouldn't have gone the way it went. Just how the cookie crumbled today.

Worst performance of Foster's tenure? Worst of Ryan's.

I can't remember a worse forwards performance for years. Utter shite at the set-piece, handling and ball retention were even worse and the poor discipline was off the scale.

Was suggested in the nadir of 2022 that Foster wan't hard enough on his players. I hope he can be hard on his coaches as Ryan needs to get his act together after this performance.

Well done Boks, very tidy performance and played the ref well. Bodes well for the RWC.

For us, I don't think this game has as much bearing in the RWC as people are making out. Neither team kicked a single penalty the entire game, the tactics employed are not the same as a test match. On top of that, we played a game where both sides wanted to score tries with 14, sometimes 13, men for most of the game. SA are a RWC contender, you can't win with that many cards against the other top sides unless they have an absolute shocker.

We now have another good hit out against France and then three warm up games before the quarter final. We know we are good enough against anyone on our day, and we are unlikely to have another match where we get that many cards. I really think we are as good a chance as anyone, which is a change from previous years where we believed we had the superior team, but we can't expect to be top of the world forever.

Well done SA!, along w the loss we're gonna take alot from that game! Roigard our no.2, ALB is still trash,Newell is not good enough, Degroot is too slow around field and still unfit to be effective at scrum time, Telea's a definite starter

    Our weaknesses exposed:

    • kicking game flawed, high risk
    • high tempo game relies on winning contact
    • Jordie Barrett still makes poor decisions
    • reserve locks

Scott Barrett unlucky with both yellow cards. Got tackled into halfback. Clean out on ground was penalty.
