    Been listening to a bit The Feelers recently.

    I do wonder how big they would have been if they were a UK or US band. The time they were peak in NZ was similar to the Oasis timelines &, I know this will be controversial, I think their songs are every bit as good, catchy and melodic.

    I can’t find a single positive thing to say about the Feelers but I do understand the principle. I often think the same about Push Push.

    ….and I realise this looks like a pisstake when written down but they absolutely rocked in that late 80s/early 90s hair metal kinda way.

    @taniwharugby

    Ministry were a very different, but pretty good, band in the 80s.

    so good at the BDO. Their older shit is very, um, interesting, but still great. Psalm 69 is just fucking metal.

    Got into this after reading/learning about how George Martin recorded different musicians & albums. Beck said Martin taught him when to stop and not over-do things. Not really a guitar-hero enthusiast but absolutely love this record - really tasteful and outstanding musicianship.

    Yeah as I said when he died I think it’s a shame in one sense that he never hooked up with a fantastic singer in the long term.

    He could play better than anyone in my opinion ( once Hendrix was no longer among us )

    Find a lot of guitar stuff screams "Me! Me! Me!" but Jeff Beck seemed to play for the music as a whole. As did this bloke.

    I went to see Living Colour on Sat night touring for the Stain 30th Anniversary Tour. They are still a great live band and opened with the full album before playing songs from other albums, and covers.

    I've seen them twice in Sydney in the past few years, they're a fun band live and their playing is still awesome. Vernon Reid sounds like he did 30 years ago, although Corey Glover doesn't hit as many higher notes as he used to, but doesn't really need to.

    They were my favourite band in high school and I missed out seeing them in Wellington on the actual Stain tour because I was in Oz on a rugby tour.

    @Nepia They are now in Aust, and will be opening for Extreme, so a shorter set. The Auckland concert was as a headliner. Sep 12 in Sydney.

    Good gig ?

    Awesome band but they played at San Fran of all places in welly in the last few years. Surely thats a case of the mighty falling ?

    Cult of Personality was a huge hit and all of them are absolutely amazing musos. I was surprised they didn’t do somewhere much bigger ?

    Yeah, my mate and I looked at going to it but the tickets are crazy expensive in comparison to their single shows. Not to fussed to see Extreme.

    @MN5 The three times I've seen them in the last decade have always been at the Powerstation, so I suppose that's their draw in NZ. They were really good, and hearing an album in full is always a unique experience. I would have liked to hear a couple of songs from later albums but they don't play those.
