    Congrats Waikato. Far too good.

Auckland starting Apisai and Funaki were asking for trouble.

Auckland's discipline a real problem. Not dissimilar to the ABs.

We looked flat after the Canterbury result last week.

When I least expect a win Waikato puts in a performance like that. Funny to see Wrampling come onto the left wing so early in the 2nd half.

You would think that Tonu'u and co would do their homework. Ngatai is a halfback, and was the only back on the reserve bench.

    Everything was a bit off

Waikato’s gamble of a 7/1 split vs Auckland’s conventional split with no specialist lock had a huge impact on the second half though. With the first half lead they could just shut the game down by recycling possession with fresh forwards

    Waikato 13 is impressive

He came in as a replacement for Waikato last season. Tuhakaraina and Anderson weren't even part of the original Waikato squad, but currently with RWC commitments and injuries Waikato are missing 5 midfielders.

    Just got some great oil
Waikato had requested from Otago to use Vilimoni Koroi as a loan player, every union has to sign off on this sort of transfer ,only one union refused to 🤔
I would imagine the motivation for Waikato would have been very strong

Both played really well - looked like natural midfielders.

    @KiwiMurph

Austin Anderson was the 2nd 5 in the Hamilton BHS 1st XV outside Hotham and Kemara. He went over to the Brumbies last year and ended up in the wider Aust U20 squad but didn't make the final cut for this year's WC. I don't know if he has moved back to NZ full time but he is still very young and has a useful left foot.

DMac is listed as having one DG, as is Trent Renata and Stephen Donald.

@Bovidae that was some win given the injuries Waikato have, great to see Simon Parker playing well , hes defenitely one i would love to see back up in Northland , i understand his partner has finished her studies down in the Waikato
Hes one of the bigger body number 8s around.

@Steven-Harris Yes, Waikato need to back that performance up now.

No idea on the seriousness of the injury but he was using crutches when they showed him at the end of this game.

just needed a reject to come back into the side extremely angry and fired up combined with a massive pre match rark up from the coach then you've got an entire team fired up for a big performance

not exactly something you can bottle up and use on a weekly basis though..

@WillieTheWaiter Do you know where Waikato is on the injury front? It's not like WR HQ is forthcoming with updates.

I have stopped going to NPC matches, as I am disgusted with the lack of buildup information to get me interested, and regularly gutted by the extra-weak teams fielded. Does nobody at WRU give a stuff for fans anymore? Do I presume they are the provincial union which has prioritised grassroots over High Performance now? I have heard nothing one way or the other.
