im in the camp of what happens to these trophies in between games is a bit of the mystique of them, the unsubstantiated stories and urban legends, Dad worked for Air NZ in the 90's as i was lucky enough to have the ranfurly shield, NPC Div 1 trophy and the bledisloe stashed under my bed one night because they came into town on a late flight....theyve obviously be restored since then but i can tell you they we're pretty fucked up back then, the rugby ball on the lid of the bledisloe was super dented and bent over
BUT...dont bloody take photos and shit (our court sessions you have to leave your phones), the shield should have turned up for the first challenge next year looking all shiny and nothing but a rumor that "something" went down in the off season

Thats a clean break, it would have been a shoddy repair job to begin with. Dropping it on a hard surface just broke open where it was previously apart and repaired.
Im not vested in this, i just work with wood and see this all the time...carry on.

Wasn't a repair job, the wood was brand new! They had replaced it.

And the other things these fluffybunnies have done? There will be a whole set of rules for any new holders because of this shit! And wouldn't it of been nice for Hawkes Bay to be able to have it on display this week as a lead in to the QFs?
And to top it off another one of the idiots decided to drive pissed into someone's fence and has been charged with drink driving !!!

I’d have thought this would be a given but some unions might need it in writing.
