The Boys in the Boat
Story of the US rowing Eight at the Berlin Olympics directed by George Clooney. Think Chariots of Fire but without the acting, music, human tragedy and inspirtion but with added Disney-like schmaltz.
Utter shite. 1 Rowing Boat out of 5 Cunard Liners
Jaysus, that would be my rating for Chariots of Fire, an utterly shit movie that Brits seem to love for patriotic reasons I assume?

The Brits hate patriotic shit and prefer stuff which take the piss out of patriotism - which is why Dad's Army is so bloody popular. It's one of their great redeeming features.
Chariots of Fire was a film about personal achievement, personal values and the struggle between the two things. The Olympics themselves were almost a side-show. Killer film score too.

Cool cool, I didn't mean to call you patriotic.
Still, the worst Oscar best picture winner I've ever seen along with Crash.

I'm so patriotic I support any AB team - regardless of who's the Head Coach.....

You're half right - Crash was also utter shite

Speaking of Oscar movies after the abortion that was Maestro I was worried all the remaining Best Picture nominees would be equally as crap, but thankfully Anatomy of a Fall was good.
French film, German main actor, nearly half the dialogue in English, interesting look at the French court system.
Next up is the holocaust movie Zone of Interest, so that should be a fun watch.
-
went and saw Argylle on the weekend...stupid switch brain off fun in the mold (althought not as good as) Kingsman
impressive if ridiculous action scenes and send ups of spy movie troupe's

The Brits hate patriotic shit...
The thing I love about the Brits is their hatred of patriotic shit, and their dry humour.
Until... wait, no... it's absolute complete bollocks.
The Brits fucking LOVE their patriotic shit, see every deluded "this is our World Cup", Jubilee, and Brexit.
And every week at work a Brit feels compelled to explain to me "sorry, that was my dry humour", to which I have to diplomatically respond with "Yes, I know, I was responding in kind...". Actual dry humour flies over their head every fucking time.
Edit: Present company excluded... of course. -

You've clearly never seen a Ken Loach film.
I've seen clips of Benny Hill & Bruce Forsyth - was he similar?

Imagine 90 minutes of deep intellectual discussion on how everything British is shit, corrupt, racist, xenophobic and full of hate - except for this one bloke who'd had enough of living in a matchbox on the side of M1 but was killed by a right-wing thug.
Even more unwatchable than The Boys in the Boat....
-
@Victor-Meldrew doesn't sound like dry humour... but maybe over my poor colonial head?
Currently watching True Detective: Insomnia... that's dark enough for me this week.
