@MajorRage It is a phenomenal return, but I still contend luck (as always) had a lot to do with it.

and I agree it does sound churlish which I'm not meaning to. I haven't even gone near the match thread for that very reason.

@MajorRage without meaning to sound churlish I think the Boks have Lady Luck in their pocket rather than aura.

    Not their fault but
    1995 - France semi AB's sickness
2007 - Didn't face decent opposition all tournament. The closest they got was a poor England in pool play and again in the Final
2023 - Fair play France, England, NZ in the knockout is some run, but they did enjoy more than their fair share of luck.

Boks weren't best team in 1995, 2007 nor 2023. They were in 2019. That said, not their fault fate has delivered them four wins.

Sadly she didn’t make an appearance tonight.

I disagree. There were brief flashes. She's a sleeping giant right now. I'm hoping Razor can properly wake her up

Aura/belief is why ABs were only one point behind having played 59 minutes with 14 men.

    It was a superhuman effort

Boks RWC record is great, but nothing has changed from back in 07 when they had two wins to our one - I'd still rather our head to head with them.

    She's aliiive!

    Verified sighting by English journalist:

@Machpants said in All Blacks 2024 - looking forward:

England won't be scared of aura

    All Blacks, Rugby, Sport

How England can take advantage of transitional All Blacks

How England can take advantage of transitional All Blacks

England are a team on the up and the All Blacks are in a significant transition.

But even if England were to fall to a 2-0 series defeat, it would not have been due to them fearing the All Blacks’ aura.

    Still going baby

Above all, though, it is simply that their old aura is slowly being chipped away in a modern world where, as one All Black assistant coach conceded, there is almost nothing new under the tactical sun.
