That is a very refreshing review. Haven’t watched the film yet but it is on my list. Sorry WAS. Still might watch it but these days I’m looking to be entertained, not educated.
I have a wife for that.
Don’t take my word for it, whilst I’m a pretty big deal on the fern I’m no Leonard Maltin. You might enjoy it
I'm finally nerding out with the lad on the weekend and watching it. Totally not up the alley of the other folk living in the house. Will see if it's gripping or glacial.
May just get smashed on fresh hop and see if I can rattle teh windows with teh big booms

I'm only annoyed by your "turkeys" comment, even if you don't like it it's not a Crash.
I'm midway through a rewatch and it's holding up well (in a way that Tenet didn't on a rewatch).

If you’re into movies about women who can’t talk falling in love with frog men don’t let me judge you
….and Tenet is a terrible flick !

Wait, you were talking about the fish fucking movie? It's down there with Crash. I thought you were calling Oppenheimer a turkey.

Dune 2. Beautifully shot and great acting but while it was slowed paced the very many events that occurred seemed incredibly rushed (if that makes sense). I'm thinking a mini series or series (which there is already) is the best format for this particular story. So many things that didn't have time to be fleshed out. My son remarked on how the mother switched like night and day. But better than most dross at the movies these days and hopefully we'll see a 3rd instalment.

I know what you mean, lots of chat of Muardib being the chosen one which went on far too long then all of a sudden they’re surfing worms in the next scene with no explanation.

I thought Oppenheimer was excellent.
However, I'm a geek and I was on a plane so I didn't really have any option to bolt on it anyway.
Yeah I thought it was awesome. Enough that it made me go and buy the book it was based on, also excellent.
Then I'm a Nolan fan, I like all his movies apart from the shit one.
Yes Dunkirk, utter arse. No way no one even says a word when they do so the shit that happens before the first word spoken, just so they can squeeze in the 'massive twist' that the guy is French. And don't get me started on the air combat sequence, especially the longest gliding spitfire in the world, utter tosh

I think a shit tonne was cut out. Hopefully there is an extended version that fills in the blanks but I think I recall hearing that this director doesn't do that.

I quite liked Dunkirk, Tom Hardy can obviously wriggle his arse pretty effectively in mid air to make a plane glide for as long as he did.

Listened to an Infinite Monkey with 2 astronauts, both ex test pilots and a movie special effects guy. They were asked if the inaccuracies in films piss them off and both said no it's suspension of belief / fun etc.
Specifically asked what was wrong about Top Gun - Maverick and replied most of it but most glaringly that Tom Cruise was allowed anywhere near a plane.

That was excellent. Thanks.

Monkey Man
Dev Patel goes John Wick on some Indian bad guys.
Kinda got lost because some of the dialogue was difficult to pick up.
And whilst the fun part was the mindless gratuitous violence the mindless gratuitous violence kinda got boring.
Think it was essentially Patel (who wrote, directed and starred) making some sort of protest about Hindu v Muslim violence in India. I said " I think" coz I really couldn't follow what the evil guru was saying.
Anyway I have a theory the evil guru was Monkey Man's father.Am also a bit pissed off that Monkey Man had no purpose in life other than revenge for his mother.
And still not sure the significance of the tranny Hindu priests ...
And his sidekick and the chick interest were loose ends that were never resolved.
I think Monkey Man was Muslim, (certainly made it clear it was a montheistic religion) and his redemption amongst the Hindus was probably significant.
But violence.
I think they deliberately overdid, such that it in one of the mass fights near the end they toned down the music and pacing to make it boring and just run of the mill. Kinda cleverly really.

Will pass. Thanks.
Dev as a John Wick character is Oscar worthy acting though fair play.

Just watched all the Daniel Craig era Bond movies over the course of 6 days. (Had to take an evening off for the Taranaki Beer Festival.)
- Ana de Armas is fucking hot
Hot but overrated.
Only the 4th or 5th hottest of the Craig era.
