And don't get me started on the air combat sequence
Listened to an Infinite Monkey with 2 astronauts, both ex test pilots and a movie special effects guy. They were asked if the inaccuracies in films piss them off and both said no it's suspension of belief / fun etc.
Specifically asked what was wrong about Top Gun - Maverick and replied most of it but most glaringly that Tom Cruise was allowed anywhere near a plane.

That was excellent. Thanks.

Monkey Man
Dev Patel goes John Wick on some Indian bad guys.
Kinda got lost because some of the dialogue was difficult to pick up.
And whilst the fun part was the mindless gratuitous violence the mindless gratuitous violence kinda got boring.
Think it was essentially Patel (who wrote, directed and starred) making some sort of protest about Hindu v Muslim violence in India. I said " I think" coz I really couldn't follow what the evil guru was saying.
Anyway I have a theory the evil guru was Monkey Man's father.Am also a bit pissed off that Monkey Man had no purpose in life other than revenge for his mother.
And still not sure the significance of the tranny Hindu priests ...
And his sidekick and the chick interest were loose ends that were never resolved.
I think Monkey Man was Muslim, (certainly made it clear it was a montheistic religion) and his redemption amongst the Hindus was probably significant.
But violence.
I think they deliberately overdid, such that it in one of the mass fights near the end they toned down the music and pacing to make it boring and just run of the mill. Kinda cleverly really.
3.5 masked wrestlers out of 5 gruesome ways to die

Will pass. Thanks.
Dev as a John Wick character is Oscar worthy acting though fair play.

Just watched all the Daniel Craig era Bond movies over the course of 6 days. (Had to take an evening off for the Taranaki Beer Festival.)
- Ana de Armas is fucking hot
Hot but overrated.
Only the 4th or 5th hottest of the Craig era.

@MN5 I actually know the Oppenheimer story pretty well and enough of the science to follow it easily and I had exactly the same reaction. Glaciers are melting faster than this plot advances. It's well-crafted but it screams "Look at me, I'm Oscar worthy".
I turned it off halfway through with the intent of watching the rest, but haven't yet and probably won't.
5 Neutrons out of 5 Hydrogens for tittle watch though

Oppenheimer review.
Blokes talking on a movie built for Academy voters. Very well made film, strong script, well shot. Interesting, but not one I'd go to rewatch and would be very careful of recommending - need the right headspace to get into it.
Four neutrons out of five nuclei
-
I'd add Oppenheimer is also geared towards people with attention span of greater than five minutes.
The raindrops to nuclear armageddon transition was pure, visual cinema. It even reminded Robert Downey how to act instead of mug.
I'll rewatch it at home, because I suspect the impact without the wall of sound and large screen will be greatly reduced. Definitely one to watch in a cinema.

Mrs Womble is away for work so im re watching the Hobbit movies whilst washing rugby jerseys
hadn;t watched them since the cinema, obviously not LotR...but better than i remember, i think the biggest critic still stand...could have been an AWESOME two movies.....rather than a drawn out three movies....dont get me wrong....you get the feeling theyre on an epic journey....but i think 2001 Peter Jackson would have cut more stuff
-
Oh man they were so bad, I have watched the fan super cut of one long movie which was OK. But I am a total nerd, have watched LotR dozens of times, read the books many dozens along with the History and other books. But never got past half way through second movie, only the second movie for 20 years I haven't finished (along with Wonderwoman)
