Parsons said on the Aotearoa Rugby Pod that Cashmore "went down on the weekend", so might be another 1st 5 out.

He did make an interesting point about the playing before April rule. At some point it has to be flexible

For instance the Tahs have lost a ridiculous number of props. If they were in the finals, some of their props arrived after the cut off date. Surely they would be allowed to use them?

It gets murky though. At the moment the Blues still have enough players to cover 10 and fullback. One more injury and they are playing people out of position

Any idea if they are replacing Lay next year? We have four good props, and hopefully Sheck will develop well at tighthead. Still need six good props in this competition though.

I had forgotten that Tevita Mafileo has been rumoured to move back. Covers both sides. Better loosehead?

Why Auckland blue is primed to take over from Canterbury red and black

Why Auckland blue is primed to take over from Canterbury red and black

The Auckland Blues have the makings of a champion Super Rugby Pacific side, underpinned by two awesome wingers.

Yeah he’s signed for the Canes for the next two years but may move after that.

@Machpants I find these articles from Rugby Pass quite funny. They were calling the Canes team arguably the best ever the other day. The Blues, Canes, Brumbies and Chiefs can all win it on their day atm. Best to write these articles once the season is done I would say. Blues defs in the top seat atm though.

@george33 he won’t be allowed to during the playoffs, especially if Plummer and Perofeta are still fit.

Didn’t realise Razor made the rules. The Blues can bring in a replacement for round robin play but not the playoffs.

Well it depends on the author, they all have different opinions. I very much rate Nick's analysis

@Canes4life see I can understand this rule for club footy, where some super rugby player comes back into their club team for a game or 2, but shouldnt be allowed to play the finals, but in this case, Super is the pinnacle of NZ rugby (outside International) it really makes little difference IMO, there is an argument it actually isnt fair on some of his own team mates that he leap frogs whoever has been holding the fort.

If Beauden comes back and somehow manages to play in finals footy that is going to leave a very foul taste in a lot of NZ fans mouths, more importantly his own team mates. Would be a terrible call from NZR to let something like that happen considering the Chiefs said they tried to do the same for Retallick earlier in the season and they got told no.

Also it's an example of the article content being better than the title someone gave it.

@taniwharugby that would be the worst part of it all. If he takes the spot of someone that has played all year then that would suck. The Blues don’t need Beauden, they are at the top for a reason and should back the players that have got them to this point. Infact, having Beauden in the mix all of a sudden could derail the Blues, especially if he reverts to kicking the ball away with almost every touch like he has done for the last five years.

To keep this in context I would be annoyed if the Canes brought Ardie in aswell. Imagine if he took the spot of Lakai or Iose who have done all the work this year, it would be bullshit.

Those players chose to play in Japan this year. They can sit in the stands and let the players who have been in NZ go to work.
