Now or never: Taking it to the next level

Even more training today.

Took kids to this free fitness class or something at the local oval after school. They bitched and moaned the entire way there, but of course loved it and I had to drag them home. It was great. There were about 10 kids there and it was held by this lady who looks like she must have run long distances at a high level for some African country. She was lovely, and had them doing all kids of intense but really fun things. I was just sitting there looking at my mobile, but she came over to me with a skipping rope and said she liked the parents involved. So I skipped heaps and then got carried away and started doing cross training with the bars at the playground and then did multiple laps of the oval and then some more skipping. The lady then called me over and we played sock tag, which is basically running after each other with a sock hanging out of your pocket and you have to collect the most socks. All the little bastards were after me so it was a seriously intense farking workout.

Unfortunately this thing is only held every month or so. Might have to try and organise something myself.

Pretty buggered now.
-
Wednesday: Back and biceps. Not bad. Bit rushed.

Thursday: Wasn't planning to do anything but went round to the park to pick up my eldest but he was in the middle of doing his own training: Burpees, pushups (badly), situps and stepups.

I was proud as punch. So I joined him and we did some laps and sprints together. It warmed my heart.

Friday: Didn't even have time for lunch. Just grabbed a handful of nuts. Could have trained later that evening but was absolutely farked.

Today: Had a decent sleep and hit the gym for some shoulders. Hammered nicely but then I did something a little daft. The gym currently has this challenge. Every letter of your name is a workout (e.g. 15 pushups, 10 burpees, plank, jumpjacks). You have to do every letter of your name including middle names. I have 4 names! Twice it went from 10 burpees to 25 burpees. Rooted me completely.

Great stuff! -

Ha!! I KNEW you were actually Fuifui Moimoi!!

-
Sunday: Heap of work around the house required so didn't go for run. Was actually sore as hell after the letter exercises so was probably smart not to do anything intensive.

Monday: Chest and triceps. Wasn't feeling the love at the start but ended well.

Tuesday: Back and biceps. Was ok, but had to get up at crack of dawn for some work and hadn't eaten anything.

Raining today, so reckon Ill do that letter thing if I can psyche myself up for it. -

Burpees sounds like a fun name. This is not the case.

They should just be called fluffybunnys and be done with it.

I don't think any other exercise quite drains the life out of you like they do. They don't make you burp, they make you hurl.

At any rate, I pussied out last night with some sort of tennis elbow so just did lots of skipping and trampoline skipping. Not the name game, but did the job.

Today: Shoulders. The tennis elbow thing caused problems today and that pisses me off. Shoulder presses, which for me are an integral part of any proper shoulder workout, were painful and had to cut them short. Rest was pretty meh. wasn't feeling the love like I normally do for shoulders. Hopefully this elbow thing goes away. Might rest arms next week if it's still bothering me.
-
Tennis elbow requires rest mate. I had it for about 6 or so months and it just got worse and worse before I started seeing a physio about it. Got a lot of acupuncture on it plus rest (did a squat programme!) and learnt some decent warmup exercises for it (high rep light weight single arm cable pull downs) and some stretches. Took a while but as good as gold now

Thanks for the tips mate.

Had legs today and really wanted to tickle the arms, but thought it better to rest them. If it's still sore next week I might (very reluctantly) take the week off from lifting with the arms. -
Saturday: Had a run for the first time in a while. Wanted to combine some playground pullups and dips but have to rest the elbow. Was a bit of a struggle because I seem to have a chest infection coming on. Bloody bugger. Hopefully its better by tomorrow.

Ugh, there seems to be a bit of man-flu knocking about the forum. Update your anti-virus software lads!!

Good call to take it easy on the arms mate. I've been getting a bit of elbow soreness from overhead stuff and it's hard to be disciplined and let your arms rest!
-
Well there was plenty of arm rest today. No way was I getting up for gym. Snot in the head and chest today. Smashing the liquids, but I reckon this one will be around for a while. I guess on the bright side it isn't the gastro shit JK has recently experienced.

At least the gastro passes pretty dam fast though. Sure there was 6 to 8hours where I thought I may turn inside and die but otherwise not too bad!

Worst thing was the wait loss. Back under 80kg again which is a real bugger.

If only it was good weight loss, like only taking from the abs. Trouble is gastro doesn't discriminate. -
Still feeling pretty meh. Low point was Tuesday. Felt like my head was in a vice and that I had glass in my lungs. Still, it has allowed me to rest the arm and get some sleep. Will hopefully hit gym tomorrow.

Hit gym for first time in a week. Went ok. Am still tight in the chest so took it a bit easier than normal. Just chest and biceps. Reckon I'll be a bit sore tomorrow. Tennis elbow was also ok.

Was talking to my mate about tennis elbow (he's having some pretty serious problems) and an oldtimer overheard us and gave us some stretching tips. This guy is cool. Most people will bring a protein shake or banana to this gym, this guy brings a cucumber to munch on. He's almost 60, but looks much young. Certainly proof that lifting tin regularly is like a fountain of youth (:
-
Time for an update after this exciting new upgrade kept me away!
Saturday: I had to work half the day and lost momentum. Did some skipping work, but alas no gym.
Sunday: Was going to run, but then thought fark it, I'll do the name game. That shit farks you up far worse than any run (27 exercises). Good shit.
Monday: It's all a bit topsy turvy with chest on Friday, so went shoulders and tris. Was very nice.

There are a series of exercises for tennis elbow or golfers elbow. It did the trick for me. Plus once you're sorted out, the mem-sahib has something to occupy herself with. Win-win.
