Some of HB's Samoan players must have made themselves unavailable. Toala, for example, was named in the PNC squad.

This is an underwhelming Canterbury team. The Shield Snorters by +25.

It's pretty disappointing the number of PI players that have withdrawn from this year's PNC.

We're used to the Europe-based players doing it but NPC? Guys like William Havili, Danny Toala etc should definitely (in an ideal world) be playing for Tonga and Samoa over Ta$man and HB.

Are we sure Toala made himself unavailable? The partial story behind bringing in the journeymen foreigners was that they were cover for the likes of Toala.

Agree, but I suspect it a case of needing to play, I think most need the money?
I note the Inisi brothers etcfrom Counties not playing for Tonga as well.
I think it may speak as to how some of these unions have been run over the years.

@cgrant I disagree. This is great to see these young guys finally getting a crack. I’d take out Funnell and Crotty. Chuck a couple more young guys in there. Start James Mullin and Toby Bell.
Bell is my pick to be a future All Black. Just needs to get his body right.

@Bovidae hopefully this is his level. Didn’t do much in the club games I watched. Still got a bit of niggle in his game. Big and strong though. I’d like to see Johnny Lee get a crack too.

Toby Bell a good young player. He is obviously tied up in the Saders academy but a guy like that, I wouldn’t be surprised if other franchises come sniffing.

@Landers92 I think he’ll make the full crusaders next year. Surely crotty can’t get in again.
