@Siam Since 2004 apparently. Daimen spotted me watching rugby highlights when we worked together briefly in London and told me to check it out.

Must have been around 1999/2000. I remember where I was living when I found the Fern. I started a thread on "Why I hate poofball" and spent weeks (and over a hundred pages) defending myself from vicious attacks by soccer fans (on a rugby forum). Well, actually, the attacks weren't that vicious - they were from poofball fans after all and I took a dive on most of them, which seemed to win approval.

I've been here long enough that TR was actually TR! Oh...right.
Actually apart from Bart, Kirwan and Duluth he must be one of the earliest posters? A few others, who are still around here, were before me too.

And now I have "test ignored" the new forum.

I do remember the meltdown but also that article of Booboos about supporting the team no matter what and thanking them for all those awesome times between world cups. Very inspiring.

Hey i aim to please ...

Glad you remember. I don't. Mind you I don't remember last week...

(Come to think of it I vaguely do recall making my own protest about the vitriol and saying bugger it I'm wearing my AB gear to work on x day. Join me.)

PS. I think I joined 2004 when I moved to Adelaide. Discovered sports forums through Telfer's radio show. He used to interview the bloke from Pandasport - which turned into a feral wasteland - and somehow that either linked to here or TSF was mentioned.

I was going to mention "test ignore" That started just before I joined and was obviously some sort of in-joke that had me WTFing until I sussed out the vibe.

Would have been 2003 because listening to that was what put me on to the Fern. Although it could have been the Adelaide effect

I didn't really post in the rivals days. Maybe 1 or 2 posts a year when someone really pissed me off.. must have been Phooey?

Ten years. I console myself with the fact that in my moments of wasting time on here whilst at work I'm still "online" to other things. Could be worse, I could be a smoker.

Probably me. That'll be why I remember you. You don't like poofball do you? 😉
Although Phooey did have particular knack of pissing people off...

I actually can't remember when I got online here. Must have been 08 or 09 ... I lurked for a few years before posting. Once I started posting, that was it.

The thing I remember most was great insightful commentary on rugby, something you just don't get in main stream media. Fark, even getting proper rugby analysis in the rugby shows is hard - nothing like NRL Tactics, for instance, or some of the quality NFL analysis that goes on.

I just checked my profile -it says 8 years. SO 2008 it is then, and I missed the great meltdown of 2007.

That guy got his profile deleted for trying to steal my life changing breakfast story.

Not sure about the team naming, are we setting up shifts again to take it in turns to post it if and when they do announce it?

What I remmeber most about the 2007 q final was Redbeard starting a thread about having a really bad sense of foreboding about the game two days out . He was given the expected amount of grief about it, I don't think he took much pleasure out of being right though.

In the old Rivals days there was much forum hopping - pretty sure I arrived at Bart's via a cricket board. The football boards were massive with much feralNess

    Since 2000 or 2001.

I used to post on a small international cricket site and a South African guy who posted there pointed me in this direction. He didn't stick around long but he posted here as Tsotse and he wasn't very popular.

Mind you - that cricket site was vicious - West Indians vs Jaapies and a bunch of Pakistanis thrown in - and a few of the rest of us. The race card was played left, right and centre - but, there were some very entertaining characters among them. Psychos, but entertaining.

That was me, or at least I started a thread entitled "A dark feeling of foreboding".

There were a million threads after that game not to mention a million trolls. The mods had a massive job. The 2 wins have made it much easier to look back on those dark times. Perhaps I'll even watch that game again one day.

My apologies , unfortunately you were right.

I didn't post much after the game, the mods understandably had short fuses that day . It was right in the middle of that stupid "this is not a jersey" ad campaign and I posted on the match thread "this is not a jersey, its a second half choking device". I think it was about two minutes before it got deleted.

It was certainly an interesting time for the fern.

I do recall someone posting at halftime in the game thread that even though we were up, it did have the 99 feel to it all. Proved to be on the mark.

The post match meltdown was pretty funny IMO. I couldn't delete posts fast enough.

However all the Barnes related stuff was a low point in Fern history from my perspective.
