They both look great, thanks @Kirwan and @nzzp, will give those a go
@Machpants yeah the boy has played loads of Minecraft on PS4, as well as the educational version on his school Laptop. Great game.

I got my son Far Cry 6 for Xmas. It looks absolutely sensational. He’s already got a tank and sent videos of himself shooting cars. Outstanding stuff.
That is ultra violent tho
I did actually bring this up with his mother when she got him Far Cry 5 last year. Despite taking joy in setting fire to bad guys with flamethrowers he’s a pretty sweetly natured boy and realises it’s not real.

@MN5 how old is your boy? Mine is the same, really gentle natured boy and has always been able to easily distinguish between games/movies and real life. TBH the whole "video games make boys violent" crap is been pretty well and truly debunked, it's really just if they can handle it and not be scared etc.

Yeah no sociopathic tendencies so far and we both laugh at bad guys getting killed in brutal ways.
His 11 year old brother is more into Mario Carts and innocent games like that.

I've just started Far Cry 5, having realised that I bought a new HP Omen 15 last year and hadn't played anything for ages.
Was on Ubisoft for $18 so yeah fuck it why not. Significant changes to game mechanics from FC4 which has taken some getting used to.
Suppressed AR, hunting bow, and silenced pistol. All good fun

@nzzp have watched a bit of footage from that and Elden Ring, amazing stuff and so much content in such a huge environment. I wish I had the time for them! But for the big games I spend most of each sesh remembering wtf I was doing last time.
I've seen some articles about the Nivida new gen graphics cards. They are talking about 2x the performance of their top cards. Shit is going to be mental!

16:9 at 60 fps? Fuck off Elden Ring, I'll look at it when it can run ultra wide and at an unlocked frame rate rather than a minimum on PC.
I can't imagine a jump like that, love it too be true to. But I've got a 3080 so happy as!

2 questions for you gamers:
- how long is an average session playing your (current) fav game?
- do you consume any media (websites, newsletters, videos etc) around gaming, esports or similar, and if so, what are your fav resources?
I'm not a big gamer at all. When I play a game, it'll be an hour or two max typically. Squeeze around family life.
Media - nope. See high profile posts on reddit, but that's about it.

I still use RSS feeds, I can quickly scroll through a lot of news. And just read the few that really catch my interest
