I hated the butler from start to finish, Oprahs character was unlikable too. They only had one son in real life and he didn't go to Viet Nam either, I thought Lenny was better than Gooding jr who irritates me in most things he's in anyway.

I thought Oprah was good in how the character was unlikeable.

It was quite comic how the son turned up to nearly every civil rights moment in history. Also, basically, if the Butler's son is around someone is going to die.

What was so stupid is they could have made a decent movie using the real story.

As far as playing fast and loose with the truth its this years Argo without the tension and drama. How did Gooding jr ever win an Oscar? Thats up there with Helen Hunt for as good as it gets for my nomination for the Jake White most undeserving of acclaim award.

It makes me sad, all these remakes cos it means the studios are struggling and unwilling to take a chance on something new. Not good for scriptwriters.

Talking of classics, I watched The Philadelphia Story the other night. Grant, Hepburn, Stewart. Ahhhhhhhhh. Now that's how you do romcom. Fab actors, crisp dialogue and a whole mountain of chemistry.

I watched Easy rider a couple of weeks ago and I don't really understand the fuss apart from Jack Nicholson stealing every scene he was in. Also watched the original Shining and that is still great, got to watch Chinatown and One flew over the cuckoos nest again sometime.

Sony to Officially Name North Korea as Source of Hack Attack

December 3, 2014, 10:08 AM PST

Sony Pictures will officially name North Korea as the source of a hacking attack that has exposed sensitive files and brought down its corporate network last week, two sources close to the investigation tell Re/code. An announcement could come as soon as today.

Details of what Sony and the security firm Mandiant will announce are still being finalized. But the sources confirm that North Korea will be named as the source of the attack.

A Sony spokeswoman declined to comment on the timing or the news, but said “The investigation continues into this very sophisticated cyber attack.”

Re/code first reported on Nov. 28 Sony was investigating the possibility that hackers working on behalf of North Korea was behind an attack.

Launched last week, the attack forced employees of the movie studio to shut down computers and work with pen and paper. Later, sensitive files including employee salary data, product plans and video files of five motion pictures were leaked to the Internet.

The announcement will be the first public acknowledgement of what has so far been only a matter of conjecture. North Korea has sought to stop Sony from releasing a film called “The Interview” that depicts two American TV journalists who are recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.

Force Majeure. It's a subtitled (Swedish?) film about a couple who go with their kids to a ski resort. There's an avalanche thing and Dad takes fright and pisses off leaving Mum to think about the kids. As a result the rest of the holiday turns into a giant clusterfuck as Mum realises her hubby is a bit of an arsehole, which is quite entertaining to watch. Tormund Giantsbane from GoT is in it as Mum and Dad's mate and looks exactly the same without his big fur cloak.

Worth a watch.

The Maze Runner - a teenage boy wakes to find he is in a walled community of similarly aged boys but has no recollection of his life before, some of these other boys say they have been living there for 3 years or more.

Another in the line of teen-novel-movie types, but not as good as Hunger Games or Divergent, but was ok, hopefully they follow through with the franchise, assuming what you find out means the next movie could (if they do it properly) be a good 'un.

Trailers up for American Sniper starring Bradley Cooper as navy seal Chris Kyle and directed by Clint Estwood. I read the book of this last year, he comes across as a pretty unlikable person but very good at his job. Should be worth seeing.
