Daniel Day Lewis was a great actor up until Hams of New York and There Will Be Ham.
Which gave him one Oscar nomination and one Oscar. How you like them apples bitch?
We all know Oscar loves some ham.
Pacino's Oscar winning performance was ham too?
OK I'll bite. Give me an example of a non-ham Oscar winning performance.
Jennifer Lawrence silver linings playbook
Actually there have been some undeserved Oscars in recent memory (although not DDL carnt). Helen Hunt mentioned above, Jodie Foster SOTL, Sandra Bullock Blindside. Were probably weak fields though. DDL was always going to win for Blood. He should have won for Gangs as well. Adrian Brody only won because of the Holocaust factor and Nicholson and Cage probably split the vote.

I’m probably biased but couldn’t agree more.
You're just sexist and hate strong female leads.

@virgil but Gladiator was a better movie
Ha yeah but don’t think it’s meant to work that way, still think his best work was in Romper Stomper

Russell Crowe for Gladiator was poor, was basically paying him back for not winning the previous year ( from memory)
I'm not sure Crowe deserved to win in 2000 for The Insider but he should have won for A Beautiful Mind in 2002 and not for Gladiator in 2001.
I thought Denzel deserved the oscar in 2000 (The Hurricane) but not 2002 (Training Day).

He's authentic. He studied people and voices from that era.
Did he use the Delorean?
-
@virgil Yep, and then Denzil got his for Training Day when he should have got it for the Hurricane (and Malcom X )
@Rancid-Schnitzel You don't think Pacino was hammy as fuck in Scent of a Women? Especially when you consider all the movies he could have won for. Oh, and Brody is shit, he's shit in everything, I don't know how he keeps getting main roles (I guess he doesn't get as many now) - he almost singlehandedly made Peaky Blinders unwatchable.

We all know Oscar loves some ham.
That movie where he plays the devil is peak ham , Jim Jeffries talks about him ranting in real life in much the same way as he does on film now . We will always have this though
-
@jegga I'm surprised you mentioned that movie without mentioning the nakedness of Charlize Theron - you're slipping.
Pacino probably should have won for a Godfather or Serpico.
He's (Brody) only in one series, the most recent one, so you're good to watch the early ones.

I’m not a Theron fan , so her nudity couldn’t rescue that train wreck.
I’ve watched up until where Cillian Murphys family are about to get arrested. Enjoyed the earlier seasons but it was getting a bit repetitive. Holy shit Sam Neill was good as the bad guy.

It's worth comparing the original to see how bad acting can be.

I don't know if you can necessarily call that ham but I would accept that Oscar was more a reward for past performances. Who the fark beat him for Godfather 1 and 2? Renee Zellweger for Cold Mountain was also a joke and was just compensation for Chicago.
Check out Brody in that Predator film. An action star he is not.

Oh, I think you're nearly up to the series he's in then?
I'm not much a Theron fan either ...

Brody in predators , yeah nah. Would have rather seen more of Fishburnes character.
Fishburn phoned that performance in. He was also ridiculously overweight for someone who'd been living in a cave for years. Was he eating Predator KFC?

Her acting? I couldn't care less about her acting, although she was very good in Monster. She had to be, she wasn't gorgeous.
