    Is Beervana worth it?
I haven't managed to find anybody else interested... boring fucks all now consider raising children to be more important than quaffing over-priced booze.
But... I'm more than willing to drink alone... just haven't seen much press around this thing, so wasn't sure if it's even worth that.

I've never been either. Look, if you want to try a bunch of different beers, hang out with beer nerds and .. er... hang out with beer nerds, it's awesome (I hear)

@nzzp Fuck hanging out with beer nerds.
I'll probably go, but I'll be the guy avoiding people, just chopping delicious piss, reading a book to discourage any attempts at conversation/"hanging-out".

@nzzp I used to go years ago and even volunteered one year which was interesting.
I find for myself these days that I can only handle so much beer in public especially at craft strengths so I dint last long at these things. Those “tastes” soon add up.
Did one in hipster central brick lane in London and had to pull the plug early on and stumble home while I still could.
Saying that I agave ticjets to Beers at the Basin next week so I don’t really learn.

Occasionally you come across an experiment that has really worked. This is one IMO.
I might order a few to put aside as I think they will age ok and plan a dish to go with

We do but the UK is also up there, especially with using wild yeasts. Belgium has a modern bunch riffing of old styles. Amsterdam has big “underground “ craft area in the old factories across the river.
Copenhagen has the catalyst of Mikkeller which now brews in US as well.
Of course the US is awash with good craft beer. A couple of years ago I was in Colorado and tried about 3 dozen different local brews in a few days and hardly scratched the surface.
In fact it is some of the oldest brewing countries like Germany and Austria that have a pretty weak “craft” market, probably due to the brewing laws.

Surprisingly decent. The pecan pie was possibly my favourite.

@NTA that's quality, that's the ABs ATM black shirt but playing like the wallabies at heart.

As to the schooner glasses, Ozzie need to get some skills FFS. It's not that hard to carry 4 full sized UK pint glasses, let alone little wee light weight schooners!

@Machpants I can carry 4 schooners but what about when I send the wife to do it like normal?

P.S. pint glasses are wasted here in summer unless you're sitting inside

good fun, eh. Tasted a shedload of different beers. BOTD was Garage Project Excessive Machine. https://garageproject.co.nz/products/excessive-machine Just insane.

Plenty of good brewers, and good food too. Finished up after 5 hours there to go to the pub, then another pub, then a pub for dinner, then a cafe, then off to bed. Great fun.

It's worth a trip to GABS sometime too. Quite a different expereince, but a chance to drink a wider range of beer (they do paddles). Nice thing about the Cake Tin is that you never see all the people - it's curved, so it gets busy but never nuts.

True. I've been in pubs in SA where the regulars sit at the bar with little 'ponies' (a small schooner) and the barman just continually tops it up from the tap and keeps a tally. When it's 40 degrees your beer gets warm pretty quick.

My mate has the flyer so I'll need to cross reference but we made a point of trying every single one of the American ones and a couple of the English ones. I didn't bother with Tuatara, had only one Panhead, etc cos you can get those easily in everyday life.

Behemoth do some incredible beers, weird naturally but their weird shit works better than others. Pecan Pie in a beer ? Madness.....but it works.
