@bovidae I think thats my favourite book of his. Havent checked out the show yet.

From what I have read the series is not a completely faithful adaptation of the book but the cast and production is very good.

@mikethesnow season 2 you are talking about?

I've held off watching it as I felt it probably should have ended after S1 so not sure S2 would be worthwhile

    No Season 1

    Starting on Season 2 today

Better then It, The Stand, The Dark Half etc?

The Stand is a close second , have you read 11:22:63?

No I’ve been slack with recent Stephen king books,
He has written some classics but gee he does tend to waffle in his stories

His short stories are usually really good imho , but yeah he does go on in his books

Yup agree, his short stories are very good
The novellas too, The Mist, Long Walk etc are great reads

I just read the long walk again, its still good. Don't bother with the tv series of the mist, its very average.

Which one was the one where a bunch of people land in a plane and the airport is deserted and something is essentially sucking the life out of everything? That was an awesome read!

That's the one. Would love to have a read of that again.

Running Man was an absolute classic flick, helped no doubt by Arnie but I've heard the book is great too.

Just finished the final episode of Sharp Objects. I thought that they jumped too far ahead between scenes and failed to fill in some gaps in the timeline. Make sure you watch the end credits for the final reveal.

Started watching Rake, it’s pretty entertaining. The guy that played Dewey Crowe in Justified shows up in one episode, I had no idea he was an Aussie and was great playing that red neck in Justified .

    Also

*** Danielle Cormack gets the girls out****

This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill.

I have watched a couple of episodes of Mobcity, set in the early 20s in LA.

Has a decent looking cast with a number of recognizable faces (not a-listers) like the dude out of Punisher, the chick out of Man in the high castle, Ed Burns and a few others

Started ok, is only 1 season, not sure if it was cancelled or just ended.

Had a look at S6 of Strike Back, no Damien Scott, no Michael Stonebridge, and just the feel of the 1st ep (even with the usual scenes...) made it seem almost, cartoonish and the action scenes didnt seem to have as much attention paid to them as previously.

I thought it was just a one off 6 episode show? I remember watching it a while back (at least 3 or 4 years ago) and not being very impressed.

@nepia ah ok, so my normal process is look at 2-3 and if no good I bail, so as this is only a short one maybe I'll persist..I only started it cos the chick from Man in the High Castle was in it.

Ozark S2 starts at end of the week as does the Amazon Jack Ryan series which could be hit or miss (they seem to have delayed its start for a long time, presumably to make changes as they are viewing it as a potential flagship)

Outstanding. I love me a bit of Ozark. Always good when you go into a show with zero expectations and it turns out awesome.
