From the NZ U20 and the Mitre 10 Cup teams : Jordan, MacKay (done), Ennor (done), Tua, T. Umaga-Jensen, Para-Para, L. Jacobson, Papali'i (done ?), Walker Leawere, Aumua (done)
From the Mitre 10 Cup teams : Aumua (Tasman), Frizell (Tasman), Blackadder (Tasman), Salmon (Tasman), Sowakula (Taranaki), Profitt (Taranaki), Wyrill (Taranaki), Verney (Wellington), Ben-Nicholas (Wellington), Kirifi (Wellington), Fahamokioa (Wellington), Parete (BoP), Plummer (Auckland), Ravouvou (Auckland), Wright (Northland), Cameron (Canterbury), Tuilamo (Counties), Henwood (Counties).

I'm really struggling to recall some of the names mentioned above, in particular Salmon (Tasman) and Wyrill (Taranaki). There seems to be a good number of loose forwards amongst the list so most of them will be locked out anyway by those already holding contracts for next season as you can't pick everyone. Maybe they can all go to the Rebels?

Loketi Manu (Auckland). Would be interesting to see if Nico Costa can step up.

    Monty Ioane (Bop)
    Jordan Manihera (waikato)
    Jade Te Rure (manawatu)
    Fraser Armstrong (manawatu)
    Josh Ioane (otago)
Jonah Nareki (otago but picked up by nz7s)
    Matt Johnson (southland)
Mason Emerson (Hawkes Bay) is a midget but has pace to burn and is fearless.

As mentioned in the initial post , I think Sam Henwood is rumoured to be heading to the canes.

Salmon is a THP who impressed when Tasman had Halakonuka and Lomax injured. He's strongly built and could be selected in a WTG.
Wyrill is Sowakula's understudy in Taranaki. He's got some gas and a physique which will suit perfectly to the SR competition.

Emerson reminds me of Lowe, just a bit smaller. Not so sold on this much vaunted pace he possesses though.

@bones Last sevens season, Emerson trained with the All Black 7s (he was in the development squad) and in their time trials, he was the fastest of them all.

@stargazer sure, I can believe that. Just I don't see too many time trials happening in the middle of a game of rugby.

R Wright, M Matich and T Tua from Northland, also Jack Ram but as he has been capped by Tonga means he is very unlikely.

Have heard whispers a couple of others are being looked at, a few that would certainly not let anyone down but expect lots of teams have players to fit that.

@bones I probably chose the wrong word. Speed test, race against team mates etc. Anyway, I've seen him play often enough to know he's very, very quick on those short legs.

Emerson is a bit smaller, but not as good as Lowe, in saying that is Emerson much smaller than Goosen?

Goosen is 178cm? Hmmm, I always thought he was smaller. Now I can't make my joke about the Canes allowing midgets but only from Wellington. Hurrumph. 😉

@mikedogz Leger looks like a classy prospect. I'd be surprised if he isn't picked.

Joe Royal was in the Blues squad as an injury replacement this year.

@stargazer sure, I can believe that. Just I don't see too many time trials happening in the middle of a game of rugby.

Scotland had a bloke called James Craig who could do 10.6 for 100 metres and he went on to be a household name.

Highly unusual. If any franchise is meticulous about making sure players physical stats are perfect it's definitely the Canes.

I hope Tiaan Falcon won't be used as a fullback but only as a 1st Five.
Great for Luke Jacobson. He has all the qualities to thrive in a better team than the Mooloos. But he is rather light for a 6. Should be used at 7 for the SR requirements.

He will backup DMac at 1st 5 unless Cooper has other signings in the works.

Listed at 107 kg, the same as Fifita and 2 kg lighter than Kaino and Squire. Jacobson is 20 so will put on more weight with time in the gym.
