So I am new to Barbera, only just discovered it. Fantastic drop, a light red and now i must consume more. If anyone knows any decent brands let me know. I can't believe I haven't found this Italian varietal earlier.
I can't get my wife to drink many reds, but she also enjoys this so that is a win

I'm drinking a Lavignone right now
I see the same shop has Massolino Barbera D’Alba but that's quite a bit of money (the premium there looks a bit high)
Fontana Fredda is good, although the Oz version has different packagine to what we get here.
I can also see that Dan Murphy's has Pio Cesare (never go wrong) and Tenuta barà c.
The Charles Smith Barbera is a different style but also really fun.
We drink a bit of the Fratelli Giacosa Barbera D'Alba, but I didn't see an Oz site for that one.

@gt12 legend ..will see what I can find and let you know
not sure where you are but south of Perth is a lovely little vineyard (great people) and some great, affordable wines including Barbera
Seems I'm not alone

Just for the hell of it I opened a bottle of Alluviale 2006 Cab Merlot Franc.
Touted as a cut price challenger to Coleraine, the grapes were sourced from the old Irongate vineyard. Dry but still with plenty of fruit, the wine still has legs. Which is fortunate because I have a few bottles salted away

Wine sux!

More specifically, I hope there is a drought and all grapes are destroyed and then there will be no wine production. I will laugh and laugh.
I don’t drink wine and never have.

Apparently the French grape season will be terrible due to the dry Summer conditions. This year's vintage will be one of the worst for a long time

You're one poster on here that I typically always enjoy. But by God, if I see another post like this any time soon, I'll hunt your ass down. Wine is the nectar of life, better than water, more sacrosanct than food.
Stop with your heresy!!!

Is it hard to access affordable but good wine in Japan? So many parts of Asia tax the crap out of it

Cheap as man, biggest reason why Ive been here so long. The Japanese have recently relaxed the tax on cheese too, so life is getting better.

Took a bottle of Clonakilla 2016 Shiraz Viognier up to my parents. Never enough in a bottle when you're sharing.
Probably one of the best examples of getting the soil, weather and grape right in the region.

was given a sizeable Dan Murphy's voucher so treated myself to this
It was pretty good without being amazing. Though i think my tastebuds have been changed by a constant barrage of grunty South Australian reds (even the Grenache i drink has more punch than this).
If you are going to spend this much on a bottle i reckon you can get something better.

not in stock currently, but if you're drinking Grenache, I recently drank this in Barcelona and loved it..highly recommend, if anyone can find it

Shit - I had to go check what I've got sitting on the shelf in case it was this, as I seem to recall it cost a couple hundy... but nah, it's the "Le Sol 2014" - another from the "Prestige" range.
Good to see they've named a wine after Sophia... when I visited, it was clear the owner had a massive hard-on for Sophia Loren, to the point of naming the pair of hemispherical buildings after her titties. -

Seriously. I think the French are missing a trick not selling this stuff off to certain visitors their country will have over the next month or so.
Saw that and thought exactly the same thing
Or gift it at the airport
When my missus and I went skiing to Georgia we were presented with a bottle of Georgian wine each at immigration and wished a great holiday
We drank Georgian wine all trip
