Northcote won 25 - 20. Were behind until about the 70th minute.
Went to this game and was a very good game of rugby. Was well set up too with perfect conditions (see vid) and two clubs boyant from wins in the prelim games with Northcote winning the Reserves Final and Bays winning the under 21s.
Bays were very solid. Great structure but a piss poor scrum which didnt actually cost them too much. Northcote looked dangerous whenever they got the ball in to the backs but squandered 2 or 3 opportunities to score with piss poor handling.
Turned the half at 17-6 down and came home strong to take it out. Was great in that there didnt appear to be any poor ref calls or anything that had a bearing on the game. It was finals rugby how it should be played.
Also, looks like no crowd there in the video but camera was in front of main grandstand (only one open) and there was plenty of supporters there.
Up the Cote!!

Shirley win the Christchurch Div 2 comp by virtue of scoring two tries in the last five minutes or so after being down by 12. Apparently it was a great game. Christchurch hadn't lost at home in two years or something.
However in an appalling display of sportsmanship - or lack there of - I'm told none of the Christchurch team made it up to their own clubrooms for the presentation and as the Shirley guys left only two Christchurch players bothered to emerge from the sheds and congratulate the winners.

Typical Christchurch piston wristed gibbons. Sumner is the only team that comes close to their arrogance

Down south, Harbour win their first Dunedin club title, but it has to be shared with University after the two sides couldn't be separated after 100 minutes of rugby.
Harbour finally gets to engrave its name on the shield.
And after 26 years of trying to win the premier banner, that felt pretty good. But there is just one niggly complication. The Hawks have to share their first title with University.
‘It’s a weird one’ as clubs share banner
The teams battled to a 30-30 draw in an epic final at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The score was locked 30-30 at fulltime and remained that way after an extra 10 minutes each way.
The next tiebreaker was the most tries scored in the game and once again the teams could not be separated, with four apiece.

@sammyc sumner really. Why do you think that. I’ve always had great dealings with sumner. I think what they do is fantastic. They have no feeder schools yet seem to have a competitive team most years. Only a burnside man would say that. What club are you.

Sydenham mate.... my comment about sumner mainly relates to their bogan fans. They cheer every mistake from the opposition with so much vigour and never acknowledge good play.
And they stack their first team with imports, and don’t field a div 2 side.

No such thing as feeder schools in this day and age.

What are the rules around having a Div 1 side and not fielding a Div 2 side? It must be ok but doesn't make a lot of sense. I thought there was another club who wasnt able to do the same thing though??

@shark they only defaulted twice. They had a horrendous run of injuries. They just don’t have the depth of other clubs. Hence why they recruit players from elsewhere. But their “full of imports “people say. Aren’t kiwis the best rugby players in the world. So why would you care if they had player from inferior countries like Japan and England. I don’t get it. Is it sustainable, I don’t think so. They’ve been in div 1 for 8 years though and seem to be getting stronger. Lincoln were the worst team 8 years ago and look at them now.
