Good to see Choat getting a start. With Gibson injured (shock!) we need our 3rd openside to have some game time
No Umaga? He's not listed as injured either. He's another that I thought would need game time.
With Kirkpatrick back maybe he'll be the back up flyhalf for the semis? That might explain Umaga's omission
-
Slightly stronger side than I was expecting.
Hopefully no more injuries.

Auck 7-3 up after some gas from Rayasi. Southland not looking terrible. How have htey not won in two years?
-
Ridiculous yellow card for Southland.

Hey, at least it's consistent. Aftera ll, they dished one out in the SA NZ test for the same offence, right?

Completely justified. He knocked it down to stop Nanai on the inside.
-
Not saying it wasn't correct, just saying the law is an arse. 10 mins for that is excessive in my opinion. Who wants to watch 15 on 14?
-
Plummer has kicked two really nice sideline conversions.

Up to the player not to infringe so stupidly

They know how it is ruled these days. Agree or not, but knocking down a ball in an attacking situation is a straight yellow.
Unless you're SA.
-
Did Lindenmuth go off?
-
@tim 1st Minute HIA
-
Man that was painful viewing that 1st half.
-
@african-monkey 40 minutes I will never get back..,conditions leveling things up me thinks..still expecting Auckland to power away in the 2nd half..famous last words..!

fark it, let's do the Otago/Southland double
-
Auckland looking a different side this half - playing really open running offloading footy.
I have been impressed with the Auckland wings this year.
-
Has Olmstead been signed by the Blues..?,really like the way this fella goes about his work, does most of his basics really wether it’s at 6 or lock.
-
pull finger Auckland, I understand if they win, Southland 'win' an uneviable NPC record outright off another NPC team...
-
@steven-harris Hope so. I like the energy he brings and he loves the contact.
@nzzp Rayasi has been fantastic. Any chance of giving Caleb Clarke's Blues contract to him?
-
28-3, bonus point and that should be the game with 25 to go.
Well done Auckland - have vastly exceeded expectations this year and won games we should have lost. Just need to get up against harbour now - not as easy as it sounds.
-
Ruru needs to put that inside flick away.
-
@kirwan Especially with a wet ball.
-
Much better rugby by us in this 2nd half.

Reckon Graham looking grumpy would do it.
Also, Southland have played better than the scoreline indicates.
-
What a bounce, evil
-
I swear every time Broc Hooper touches the ball he kicks it no matter what the situation is in the game.
-
Gotta give the Southland boys their dues, from what I believe they have no super rugby players, apart from Tony Lamborn who played a couple of games for the Canes ,they have hung in there without looking like they were ever gonna win.
Been really impressed with Selby Rickett he is right up there in the lineout stats throughout the Mitre 10cup..Also wish Nico Costa had stayed in Auckland, has looked really good behind a beaten pack. -
Try of the night, finally got it wide.
-
@steven-harris They have Matt Johnson, although he didn't actually get on the field for the Blues.
-
Didn't think we'd see Clarke in at centre this season. He played almost all of his last year of school there, but I don't think he's played there since.
His pops also started out on the wing for Auckland before moving in.
-
How has Choat played? Sotutu?
-
@tim that’s a good point,.
-
What I like is flat passes in front of players running onto the ball. Surprisingly, it gives people momentum on the advantage line.
-
@steven-harris At the same time it's good that Costa is playing instead of being stuck behind Ruru and Fukofuka. I liked what Costa bought to the Auckland side towards the end of last season.
-

Choat just scored a try - generally played well I think
-
@tim And Andrew Ready is a regular for the Reds.
-
Liaina has looked tidy at 9 since he has come on.
