So true. I got pulled over in HB a couple of years ago, and the copper actually thanked me for stopping... "I know you could have been long gone if you'd wanted"
Great attitude from the cop. When I last rode in NZ the Traffic Cops were separate from the Police and some towns had their own traffic cops. Many of these guys were as thick as mince and used to hassle bikers a fair bit. Sometimes we fought back:
"There's no baffle in that silencer and that's an offence"
"There is, officer, if you look"
"OK. Let me look down it with my torch while you rev the engine"

Those traffic cops were the equivalent of a local sheriff ala Roscoe P Coltrane. Morons that couldn’t make it into the real police. Usually the most hated pricks in town.
The police hated it when they joined up.
I remember Cambridge had an ex traffic cop whose name rhymed with fluffybunny. And he was. Weedy tache and all. -
