East Coast Bays win their first title in over 20 years. 21 - 17.
Went to the game and pretty tough watch as Northcote supporter. Never led or really looked like would win and our lineout was a shambles. First half playing in to wind was looking pretty good when down 6-3 after 39mins but somehow let bays score to close out the half. We then scored straight away in the 2nd half and i thought we might come back and win it like we did last year but not to be.
Bays won the U21s too.

Unexpected given the quality of your hooker and locks.
Very much so.

I hope that player gets a life ban.

I can't find a BOP club rugby thread ....
Just watched the Prime version of Grassroots rugby, so like a week after the fact. Had no idea of the result or that Te Puna were even in the final, Te Puna won?! Holy hell, sent shivers down my spine watching the scenes at Maramatanga Park.
Te Puna were my first club, played 8 years there from age 5.
4000 at Maramatanga Park they reckoned, amazing.

I attended the Wellington final over the weekend at Petone Rec, great game and occasion. I'd guess 3 to 4,000 there. With finals on all 4 fields.
Venues like that, and Te Puna as mentioned above, are so good to watch at. Although I'm assuming Caketin wasn't used in Wellington as it clashed with the All Blacks test.
What do you do? Reward the club players with getting to play the final in the hallowed turf ut with 3k in a 34k stadium. Or pack out a suburban venue. I think I prefer the latter.

@Stargazer I played for tech colts back at high school before 1st 15 season would start. Once year 03' or 04' we started with a hiss and a roar. First game I missed and one of the boys rung me after to tell me one of the players got sent off for a fight. His brother thought he was hard done because he didn't start it.....
So he knocked the ref out. Then went on a week long hiding on the orchards from the police. Was the first life ban from Union for anything like that.
Crazy thing was he was a god lover (from memory training to be a minister or something). Was cool, calm and collected usually. Ended being a bit of a theme that year with lots of our players.
*Side note we got cheated in the finals worse than the warriors on the weekend.

@Rapido It's a tough one. A few years back I went to the Waikato club finals when Hamilton Marist hosted them on their home ground in 3 consecutive years. It does make for a more intimate setting and the clubroom bar is open. These were afternoon games too.
But having all the major finals at the main stadium can also be good if you want to watch multiple games.
