This is a huge game for the Black Caps. With SA struggling against the other good teams we really need to get the chocolates against them.

Although they've been struggling this tournament they still have a number of world class players, and have beaten us home and away in our most recent ODI series.

It seems unlikely we will make any changes to our starting XI. Vettori wants to see Southee and Nicholls back in the team, interestingly he'd like Nicholls to slot into the middle order instead of CdG. Not a bad option but we'd have limited bowling options in that scenario.

Well this is a bit weird. Half way through the world cup and I still don't know how good we are at the moment.

Can conceivably see quite a few outcomes from this game. Tournament sort of starts again for us.

Predicting a few scares early on but hopefully we have enough cohesion and confidence to get us over the line. Got a stinky suspicion that Amla is due but otherwise hopefully the Saffas save their top drawer performance for the Aussies, as usual 😉

    Go Black!!

Neil Manthorpe (SA commentator) was saying on Radio Sport this AM that he's absolutely pants. Has been in steep decline for 18 months ... which, as you say, means he'll smash 100 off 40 against us 😐

Yeah, it does kind of feel like a tournament too far for a few of the key South African players, but I'm still feeling really nervous about this game.

Kane wins toss and has a bowl, team unchanged from last game after 11 days not playing, no spinners brought in.

If ever there was a game for Kane's tweakers, today would be the day.

I hope Southee gets a look in again. Milne again returns good figures, but without the early wicket from Boult and Amla's struggles I'm not sure how well he would fare. There is something about him that looks like he will go at 10 an over against the big boys if Boult can be seen off.

    Henry yep my mistake.

The path to beating Aus/Ind/Eng is early wickets IMO, I don't see Henry going at less than 3 an over against Warner or Sharma etc.

@rotated let’s hope we get a little bit in the pitch for those games bring Boult and maybe Southee into play

Just got up to this - need 70 at a run a ball, with 6 in hand.

Williamson and CDG trying to suicide against Tahir by the look... two chacnes in the over.

@LABCAT Phew! You got that right.

Williamson starts swinging, gets put down in the outfield ... and it's a noball.

SA have missed a couple fo hard chances, but the commentators are climbing into them about missing a thin thin thin edge to the wicket keeper. FFS, if you're not sure you heard a nick, you don't throw a review at it.

Free hit now for Kane, smashes it powerfully to fine leg for a single. What a player 🙂

    Game's over

Looks like Santner might need to hit this home. The dot balls and singles from Williamson aren’t quite going to make it at this run rate required.

His wee nurdles through the slips is very very effective though... been doing it consisently for the last hour or so
