@CO I am sure that most of the first-choice 23 will play against Tonga, not least because Hansen has said so.

Mind you, Iuspect he won't want to give too much else away to the Saffas. We are back to keeping the powder dry again.

@Stargazer I am weary of players being knackered by October because of too many minutes on the park in one year. Think of how tired many ABs were by the time of the Dublin game last year or against England in 2012.

Not a real problem this RWC. Last one we had RC and some NH visiting tests. This year only 5 tests pre RWC, not eight. Also most NH teams have gone from their top League, mixed with 6n, into long long camps and now are playing up to 4 pre cup games.

Who do the Boks play between now and that first game? Good chance they will be as “under done” as us.

First choice backline if he's got any brains in his head. The Barrett Mounga thing still needs bedding in in actual game situations, Smith and Mounga need more time together, we don't even know what the first choice midfield is, let alone have an established combination, and half the people on here think we have brand new starting wingers.

That's correct. It is the last international for the Boks before RWC starts.

From now until then it is apparently all: "team building exercises, some minor conditioning and some field sessions and a series of technical activities." Whatever the heck that means.

Generous of Japan to put their 100% winning record on the line.

The day-time Test in Hamilton will be the last hit-out for both sides before they depart for the World Cup in Japan and All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has given a strong indication that he will select a near front-line team for the match.

"We'd like probably most of the frontliners to get some form of game-time in the Tonga game, otherwise it's too big a break before we play South Africa," Hansen said.

Before the September 7 clash at FMG Stadium in Hamilton, the All Blacks will announce their 31-man Rugby World Cup squad at 12pm on Wednesday 28 August.

The announcement will be broadcast live on Spark Sport and the All Blacks facebook page and is sure to contain one or two surprises given the fierce competition for places in the squad.

The clash in Hamilton will be the first day-time Test for the All Blacks since they played Canada in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in Wellington.

Wasn’t the game against Samoa in 2015 during the day? Maybe they mean in NZ.

Edit: Dammit, the last paragraph was meant to be bold but I don’t know how the work the formatting.

Definitely the first daytime ABs test match in NZ for a very long time.

On the formatting the double asterisk cannot be followed by another symbol such as “. Has to be text.

    @ACT-Crusader
Thanks. I seem to have got it to bold in the normal text now. Would it be the quoted text messing with it?

Anyway. Look forward to the day game. Would be cool to see more of them.
