I went with Aus / NZ / Wales / SA

So largely going with the bookies except Aussie to beat England.
Farrell will be red-carded for a no-arms-shoulder-to-the-head 20 minutes in and England, while plucky and courageous for the remainder of the game, will finally be edged by a late penalty after a Pocock turnover in the ruck.

Eddie Jones and Michael Cheika to end in a draw for the most off-the-wall post match comments.

Will Owens favour NZ quite as much without Richie there? šŸ¤”

    this is deliciously bitter

And yet also making light fun of Owens' sexuality - let's face it, Read is an ugly fluffybunny compared to Ruchie.

So its a little of everything.

My Aussie mate text me during the haka of the first match at the RWC and was remarking how hot that guy leading the haka was, I assumed she was talking about TJ, but nope she meant Read. Aussie bogan chicks are weird (there I go with the superfluous word bogan again, but then again I guess possums are protected species over here.

    England / NZ / France / Japan

By the way I made the top 50 in the NPC tipping.

Makes sense. Glaring error(s) obvious to spot :face_with_stuck-out_tongue_winking_eye:

Surprised at all the people picking Japan, this SA side has been just barely behind us for a while and better at times.

@mofitzy_ I think people are doing it emotionally rather than logically.

Not sure the wave of support will carry Japan past SA, but I guess the thing is, write them off at your peril (see Ireland in pool play)

I'll be very happy if Japan wins - home team, entertaining style, seem like nice guys, underdogs, a few kiwis in the team and box etc. I just don't see SA holding anything back and at their best they are a few steps above Japan.

Am on secondment at the local Water Authority.

Executive Manager in the area I'm working is a big rugby fan. Know him a bit through rugby.

Anyway comes a loud exclamation from his office this arvo.

    " ... expletive ... Garces! And two bloody French touchies! .. "

Me and Saffa bloke at the next desk advise him he's got Skeenie as well.

Seems he got a text from his Kiwi wife who informed him.

Apparently she followed up with: " it gets better ... we got Nigel ... "

    šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

That is gold, being trolled by your Kiwi wife, love it.

    Went for England/NZ/France/SA.

I think Wales are looking tired and frankly, not that convincing. Add to that the fact that France are always due one cracking match every RWC and I'm picking it's this one.

To be honest, France look like the sleepers right now. They cruised through the pool rounds under the radar and with the reported player unrest, sounds suspiciously like another RWC, does it not?

As for Japan, in the game against the Jocks, they looked so tired in that second half. They have had 2 very tough matches and with their high velocity style of play, I'm thinking that this will just be a match to far for them. The Saffies to grind them down but I would love to see an upset as like most people, Japan are now my second favourite team!

Yes and there is no element of surprise this time

One of the advantages Japan is meant to have is fitness/the ability to run a team off the park. The last match against Scotland makes me question if that is true

Japan had 74% possession and 75% territory in that first half. Scotland had to work extremely hard but they did not gas in the second half.
If anything Japan seemed to be the side just hanging on.

Aussie bogan chicks are weird (there I go with the superfluous word bogan again, but then again I guess possums are protected species over here.

Oh right. You're making that statement in light of Hutt Valley existing. Good luck.

Yeah nah. When you say "over here" you take the whole country. Own your bogans if you're going that way.

Yeah - if I were Rassie, the main thing that would worry me would be the prospect of a hot and humid evening - and that's probably less of a concern for SA compared with Ireland.

South Africa by at least 20 for me.
