‘Bright North Korea’ (a new term to me) are at an equivalent of Alert Level 3... the scale looks fairly similar, I wonder if we borrowed it... https://www.gov.sg/article/what-do-the-different-dorscon-levels-mean
I find the term a little insulting to be honest
Yep, I get that some parallels can be drawn... but I think 100% of the time I’d still choose Singapore for many more good reasons than just the electricity supply.

Another 89 today, 13 in Hospital, 2 still in ICU, 93 recoveries.
Is it the first day that there have been more recoveries than new cases?
Obviously it depends how many new cases haven't been tested / confirmed but given that the testing has increased surely a good sign.

@antipodean said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
People who volunteer are currently sitting at home.
Indeed, but if a call out comes, I would bet money none of them would go 'fuck 'em, they knew the risk'
@Snowy yesterday probably, with the number of new infections being lower?

I'm sure if someone got in trouble out there they wouldn't say to themselves 'fuck it I knew the risk' and not expect anyone to come for them either

I thought this was a good article.
If the government is going to enforce an extreme action like a lockdown, then they have a responsibility to inform the public.
The questions going ununaswered are not difficult for them to answer, and there seems to be a policy of avoiding releasing information, which is disappointing.

The recoveries are cumulative so that is the total recovered overall isn't it?

It's not just the risk - every time we push the boundaries and / or relax the rules by making exceptions we increase the probability of this being harder to control.
Why can't I go for a surf if I'm away from everyone else becomes why can't I go to the office if I'm not going near anyone else to why can't I drive to the bach have a couple of mates over for a Barbie and before you know it no fuckers at home.
That's why while I have sympathy for the plight of the butcher, baker and candlestick maker I have no sympathy for their argument that they should be able to open to compete with the supermarkets.
Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.

It's worse over here in Oz, I think you guys have been kept pretty well informed in comparison.

And we just know that those who are deliberately ignoring the rules will be the first to complain if the lockdown has to be extended due to the spread of covid-19 by the actions of people like themselves.

Makes me wonder who the first person is going to be that gets made an example of to get the rest adherring to the lockdown.
Will Jacinda put someone in jail in an election year for violating the lockdown?
It was very interesting listening to the media questions where they realised that the police were tracking the locations of some people by their phone.
We are taking baby steps towards, or at least setting up the infrastructure for, an authoritarian state. We have to keep track of these changes and ensure they all rolled back.

Covid19 is actually a construct that will enable the government to enslave us all forever

It doesn't matter what the disaster is, governments around the world always grab more power if they can.

This doesn't even register in my 'worry about' thought process. I really have never lived worrying about what the Government is going to do. That's the beauty of living in this country.
