Coronavirus - New Zealand

If I heard correctly on TV3, this family did not use the covid tracer app on their travels so all places they visited needed to be logged by memory or EFTPOS receipts. All those piston wristed gibbons out there who don't use the app themselves can't be pointing the finger. But a big reminder that the app should be used for exactly this reason.

@taniwharugby I'm delighted to be wrong.
CEO of the art deco festival will be un-delighted he/she was wrong.

I don't know why she didn't wait another 12 or so hours

@canefan I'm a member of the Society and should have been half way to Napier now. They made it quite clear in their email to everyone who had purchased tickets why they had to can it.
They had almost 100 events scheduled for today. These involved the erection of marquees, preparation of thousands of meals, performers coming in from out of tow. They needed a 48 hour window to get everything ready. Not at 4:30 yay it's a go-er fire up the barbie.
Really disappointing for all involved, especially the organisers who had put 12 months planning into all this. Timing just sucks.
Good on the Art Deco Society who have arranged full refunds of all tickets (including booking fees) with the option to gift some to the event promotes if you wish. Fuck of Air BNB who have come to the party with 50% refund less the first day less cleaning less booking.
Unfortunately I wouldn't be going anyway, as my partners mother died on Tuesday. Just so thankful the attendance level at a funeral has been raised from 10. Husband right through to great great grandkids. Bloody nightmare.

no further cases notified overnight...
Was interesting listening to Shaun Hendy this morning, was one calling for longer at L4, and usually seemed all for longer periods at higher levels, however seemed reasonably ok with the changes yesterday.
Further form the Papatoetoe Principal:
From Joel Maxwell
Principal of Papatoetoe High School Vaughn Couillault told The Breakfast Show that while the rest of the city drops to level 2, school staff, students and families have to retain their level 3 status till at least the end of the upcoming weekend.
The school will re-open on Monday and staff will be checking returning students at the school gate "like it's a rock concert" to ensure they have fulfilled their Covid-19 testing requirements, and returned a negative test.
"Everyone coming in that gate and tested negative is a bit of a rock star in my eyes."

so one new community case today, linked to existing cluster
The newest community case had originally returned a negative test result, and had been isolating at home. They were now being transferred to the Jet Park Hotel isolation facility.
One more member of the same household had tested negative but was also being moved to Jet Park.

I’d be interested in the presumed origins of the cases in ISO
Considering that travellers are being pre tested before boarding from some countries, or are coming from relatively Covid free places like Oz, where are they getting infected? on the flights? Transmitting through other places?
-
People like this make me so mad! You know, before getting here, that you have to go into managed isolation and get tested several times. If she wanted more info about the tests, why didn't she ask for the info before leaving Australia? Couldn't they send those kids with another caregiver? And now she wants to take the government to court.

@canefan after she's settled her bill for all the extra days. Stupid cow. It's literally a cotton bud up the snout. If people won't agree to that, put them straight back on the plane. A year into the pandemic is more than enough time for her to have looked it up on her own.

I recognise someone taking the piss when I see one

Because of this the stupid biddy missed out on protesting this weekend here in Oz, with other idiots like Pete Evans.
Why did she let the foster children in her care get tested but not herself?
It's elementary Nepia

There is one new community case of Covid 19 and five others in managed isolation in New Zealand today. In a statement, the Ministry of Health said four of the cases were historical. It said the new community case was linked to the existing Auckland February cases and the individual has been in quarantine since Friday. The latest case is a household contact of previous cases D, E, F and G, the ministry said. "This person (Case H) had previously been tested, returned a negative result and was isolating at home since Monday last week. The person was transferred to the Auckland quarantine facility on Friday 19 February as a precaution. "Due to the steps already taken in identifying, testing and tracing individuals linked to the February cases, as well as Case H isolating at home since Monday and then being in quarantine for the last two days, the public health risk is considered very low." This afternoon Cabinet will decide if Auckland can join the rest of the country at alert level 1. The region was plunged into a level 3 lockdown last Monday, following the discovery of three cases of Covid-19 in Papatoetoe. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will announce the decision this afternoon.

So Auckland back to L1 at midnight tonight!

May not have been her choice - here, that decision would be made by the parents or guardians. Foster parents usually aren't guardians - commonly Oranga Tamariki would be.
