Can you stop making up stories about people who may be litigious? Next time it's a ban
Apologies. I did not give the leaked name for this reason. I didn't think I said any more than others. But will rein it in

Post of the week, if not year.
I'll even quote your TM - "fucking LOL".

15 cases today, another 7 cases linked (including the last one from yesterday) so we are down to 10 unlinked cases i.e. we don't know how they got it, but it's genomically the same so still part of the same overall outbreak/cluster.
Day 12 testing is coming up for a lot of people so we might still see some variation in numbers, but we are well on track for L3 on Tuesday 23:59.

Give them 6 months. 4K won't matter.
A cell with Mr / Ms big playing Mummies and Daddies might influence future behaviour though.
Agree about the 6 months. The money is nothing to them
What they will care about is social shame. I can sort of get the interim name suppression but if they are charged and convicted, then that name suppression should go.

Any law that has a fine as the punishment is just a law for poor people

Agree with that. While a trial is in the offing is one thing, but afterwards, no dice here.

I must say they seem extremely sorry they got caught.
What does the law society do in such a case. A lawyer breaking the law. I know drs can face disciplinary action.
Nb: is a lawyer really an essential worker??

Yes - for priority court cases and nothing else. They are meant to be agents of teh court ... but don't be surprised if that gets more than a slap on the wrist

From the article:
Under Covid restrictions, lawyers are classed as essential workers.
New Zealand Law Society president Tiana Epati told Stuff all registered lawyers were sent a letter at the start of lockdown that stated travel across Covid borders was allowed but only for “priority court proceedings”.
“If any lawyer was proved to have misused this letter that would be a disciplinary matter. There is no other acceptable use of this letter,” she said.
