I have about 100 prov 1's left from my last company just kicking around at home. Used to pick them up 50+ at a time for free, I miss that job.
[/quote]

I'll flick you my address to send them to. -
I use Prov v's mostly, have tried the Penta, a bit so so, if I am hitting the ball well, they go great, but found if I wasnt timing it, they werent that great (I know) Think I got a doz Pro V's for $60 on special at Rebel (about 6 months ago)

Bridgestone also make some great golf balls, but I find I have the same problem was I do with the Taylors, not usually a fan of the Srixon balls, although I havent used the new ones.

Corporate days are good as you can use a rock off the tee for distance and change to a soft ball into the greens <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> -
I was a staunch Pro V1 user until last year. I had a crack for a while with some Bridgestones and Z stars. Hated them both.

I have gone back to the new pro v1x and love them. I cant see myself playing another ball. Get them on the cheap at Rebel sports when they have a 25% off sale. -
Have just got a new RBZ stage 2 'tour' driver (previous driver was a Cleveland Launcher). So far have had 3 rounds with it and I have definitely seen an increase in distance. At the weekend I even cleared a fairway bunker with a miss hit fade - I have never cleared this particular bunker. It was cold too so it is fair to say I cant wait for summer!

Has anyone tried the R1? -

Hows this for a variance between 9s.

Couldn't control the driver if my life depended on it so played irons only for the last 8 holes.
-

JK that looks like my cards all the time!

My biggest swing was in a collegiate final at Akarana; 44-31!

Adams Golf was pretty big back in Faldo's day, made great fairway woods.
-

Looks like I've got a couple of shots still to go then mate.

I'm usually a bit more consistent so hope its not a new habit. At least those swings are going the right way. Its when it starts good and then turns to shit that its a bit harder to handle.
-

ha, I live in hope of being more consistent too ;)

Even when I was almost good, I was wildly inconsistent!!
-

I'm in the market for new gear, it's all very exciting.

The vast majority of my clubs are still my first set of basic Maxflis i bought of ebay for about $350. I updated my driver (and got a free 3-wood in the deal) to a Nike VRS last year, to great effect. Now it appears i am in the market for what is called a "Game Improvement" iron. Being a leftie i am severely discriminated against, especially up here in Cairns. Golf World had one fucking set, and it's going to be tough to get anything up here. The best the guy could do was to get a few demos up and let me have a hit, but i can't even get enough to take them on a course.

Anyway, based on a bit of research i am looking at:

Ping G25 http://www.ping.com/clubs/hybridsdetail.aspx?id=15153

Taylormade Rocketbladez http://taylormadegolf.com/taylormade/rocketbladez-irons/DW-JN933.html

Callaway X Hot http://www.callawaygolf.com/global/en-us/golf-equipment/golf-clubs/irons/x-hot-irons.html

Mizuno JPX 825 http://golf.mizunoeurope.com/irons/jpx825/

Anyway, i am going to have a hit with all of these when the shop gets some demos up. Any tips on what to look out/feel for? Is it best to stick with steel shafts? any advice would be greatly appreciated
-

The Pings look unreal (very important, if you can't play, at least look the part) and get great reviews. Don't think i have ever swung a Ping club though.

-

Never really used ping golf gear but dad still uses the old ping zings and loves them. His golf is fairly shithouse though!

Would advise to go steel shafts as well, at least for the irons. Woods I prefer graphite.

Tried the xhot and the rocketballs when I was looking for new irons and preferred the rockballz out of the 2. They were easy to hit but I couldnt shape them. Having said that, they were the rocketballz irons (which are game improvement irons so quite forgiving) and not rocketbladez which I think are aimed at the better golfer?
-

need to do more than hit a few balls with them on the range, I always hit someone elses clubs (mates or Pro Shops) better than mine, but if you can, get out on the course with them too and dont rush the decision.

While the old saying a bad craftsmen blames his tools, if you get it wrong at your level (nearly awesome I assume? ;)) it can have a big impact.
