@mikethesnow I had the same query yesterday, but Bonesetta swore that they were saying it reduces the risk of you passing on covid. I did a quick google and found this:
Early data show that vaccines help keep people with no symptoms from spreading COVID-19.
How about the people with symptoms?
With regard to care homes they shouldn’t be an issue. Got symptoms? Stay the fuck away!

Don't think the problem is with care homes, though - we've found they can isolate and manage those infected or newly-arrived quite well, particularly with the tests available (anyone who enters Mrs M's parents care home has a Lateral Flow Test before they enter)
The problem seems to be with carers providing daily in-house care to those not in care homes and being asymptomatic carriers. Though that's less of a problem now the 50+ brigade have had double doses.

@mikethesnow I’m gonna think about this.
As I think you are wrong. But you are clearly right.
Great post.

Autumn Lockdown already being planned and discussed in Parliament

Government whinging because employees smarter than Ministers
The Government can’t have it both ways
This could get very interesting
-
@mikethesnow the government can’t?
Don’t you mean the lazy arsed mother fuckers refusing to go back to work?
Fuck them.

Classic Tory blame deflection and mis-information campaign.
The vast majority of people still on furlough are in industries where they’re unable to go to work because of Government restrictions.

@mikethesnow if that’s your view, that’s cool snd it may have some merit.
But that’s not what the bbc article is about.
I stand by my words against that article.

I haven't read this thread much cos too much Covid news etc, but the 10k per day sparked my interest. How is the NHS coping these days, is there concern or are the 10k mostly mild symptoms and a bit of a misnomer?
It’s all good at the moment. Doesn’t mean it will stay that way, but very little nhs action.

On furlough because the Government hasn’t reopened their sector
On furlough because the Government had told them to shield due to a pre-existing health condition
On furlough because they’ve gamed the system
Can’t think of any more
The last group are tiny compared with the first two groups, and there will always be individuals who abuse the system much like benefits cheats and tax avoiders

1316 patients in hospital, 210 on ventilators. Nothing like it was peak but rising a bit in the last fortnight. Some good data below.
There is no case at all that I can see for the UK government tightening restrictions, but I think it is prudent to delay the easing of restrictions while serious cases are going up. Once they flatten or go down again then HMG should ease restrictions almost immediately.

@mikethesnow Being really crap at quarantine and securing the borders has been the UK government's biggest failure in 2021.

I agree with this point. As much as it sucks balls not to be unleashed tomorrow, much worse would be a relaxation followed by another lockdown. I don’t think Boris could make that one fly.

@mikethesnow Is that news or just a factual account of somebody's day?
She's right though. It's disgraceful that her considerations weren't taken into account when working out the logistics of vaccinating 70 million people. Twice. Disgraceful lack of government support.

@mikethesnow Just noticed the best part. It took two people to write that story.
