I'm not sure what to say about that except that these people probably don't give a shit about their a) jobs and/or b) their students
Seriously, right, people moaning about this? You have a white(ish) collar job and can work from home, and that's the problem? I do somewhat understand if ppl are having problems with internet etc, but that's separate.

I know I'm regurgitating the same old, same old, but just what the fuck is wrong with these people.
Police in London break up wedding with 400 guests
Guests at the wedding had covered the windows so people could not see what was going on inside
Cult.

Turns out the wedding was held in a closed Jewish school being used as a COVID Testing Centre.
They sure had a lot of chutzpah.

Police were as popular as pork chops at Jewish wedding?

This is what happens when one of your main political parties is proven to be against your type of people. You have a feeling of being able to do whatever you want without consequence. I.e - being above the law.
They have caused not dissimilar problems in Israel!

Got nothing to do with Labour
Hasidic communities are a law unto themselves.
And shit drivers.

I'm not sure the wedding was actually Jewish, but your point is a good one.

We definitely need more people like you in politics to keep us grounded, Mike

On the teachers allegedly not wanting to do this from home.
I suspect it is one or two who have said this (dickheads in every profession) as I have seen absolutely no sign of this or heard of it from any of the other parents at other schools but rather only being "talked" about on places like this.
I would love my kid in school if that were possible but you know it is a pandemic and I can see why we are where we are.
The Tories have been lieing incompetents throughout and you can clearly see them choosing to lie one week knowing it buys them time to change their mind next week but if people vote for Bojo the clown who has always been a dishonest bumbler that is what we get sadly.
Anyways, I look forward to school returning when it can - there are no good /easy choices right now.
It undoubtedly causes issues for their education, parents ability to work and plenty of stress all around but this virus is real and allowed unchecked the results would be devastating. (All those saying it is not so bad are crazy, even if the death rate is only up a bit right now that is insane considering the curbs to the way we live over the last year)

It is/was one of the main teaching unions guidance to teachers and many head teachers banned it. They were concerned about teachers being videoed and those videos being uploaded to porn sites.
Most teachers seem to be doing their very best in the circumstances, but a lot of head teachers and LEAs haven't been up to the task

It would seem a massive shame to not have contact
Though as I think about it the secondary kids could be bloody nightmares (none of mine are in this bracket yet and perhaps that is where this battle is more)
I have found the school teachers I have seen to be willing but waaaay behind on how to effectively use this technology which I guess isn't a huge suprise as it would not have been used much before but coming from a world it has been ubiquitous for quite a while pre pandemic it has been a eye opener how far behind the times people can get

Whoa! What the fuck are they teaching kids these days and where can I sign up?

Some potentially good news.
"Update 13 Jan: Covid hospital admissions fall in London and the south east for first time since Xmas"
NHS deaths by date seems to be indicating that English mortality second wave peak will be 8 January, give or take a day.
Latest numbers suggest London and South East on way down (slightly) but other regions of England about to hit top.
Today's still suggesting London may have peaked last Friday. South East spike on Tuesday? Rest of Engand plateauing.
Now looks like this week will be peak for country as a whole.
Latest figures still show London peaking last weekend, with Tuesday peak for England as a whole.
Update. London uptick mid last week to around previous peak. I suspect there is a weekend effect which is behind that, as families 'exercise'. East on way down. North of Watford Gap and Dumnonia appear to be reaching peak.
One would hope to see vaccines staring to impact soon.

I think you are seeing a small vaccine effect already. 50% drop off in cases already, hospital admissions are dropping in a big way (although patients are still going up as they are still outnumbering discharges).
Area I live peaking at 800 cases per 100k, is now under 200.
There were a lot of people out in the snow day today though (side note, it's been a fabulous day with the snow, just brilliant) so depending on how much people social distanced there may be an uptick.

Yes cases are down. I should have made clear that I was talking deaths by date of death.
These will now decouple a bit from cases, because of both the lag effect and the fact that vaccines to date impact most on cases that would otherwise be more likely to lead to deaths.
Snow was great, but loads of people out in Wimbledon.
Hospitalisations is the stat the Government is paranoid about, and that will take quite some time to drop. Which pushes back Tier 3...

Yeah, and fair enough too. Seeing the stats on the operations being delayed is terrifying.
