On the subject of running has anyone done any sprint training before? I don't like going for runs but want to do some more cardio on top of weight training so thought I'd give the sprints a crack.

I hate going for long runs but I do like sprints. Go to the local AFL oval during lockdown and I warm up with a 50-60% pace once around (about 450m) and then I do sprint from goal line to centre circle (about 75-80m) then walk to opposite goal line (75-80m) turn and then sprint back to centre circle. Repeat that 6-8 times and that’s enough for me....

I broke my toe the day after posting that so haven't gotten out, but I'm planning something similar next week now that it's (finally) coming right 🙂

    alright you fucking sloths

new 10km world record. Cheptegei runs 10k in a sharp Park Run time of 26:11.

For those playing at home, that's basically running 100 x 15 second 100m sprints continuously.

    Farken crazy eh!

Cant fathom that pace! Have a mate whos bit of a running machine and his casual jogs are 4min/km and then happily below mid 3.30s when the pace is on. Just looked and his last 10km was averaged at 3min 24s km pace which seems good but then you compare to above WR thats like about 1 min quicker per km and for every km.......fark

fucking does it what. i am obviously now totally out of shape, given i haven't done a muscle injury in years, and suddenly i've done two in two weeks. Add that to my back a couple of months back, and i need to take steps.

@mariner4life think I did a shade over a 4 min km but only for 1 km, anything over 1km and time drops dramatically.

I did 10.15 for 2400m on a track, which I was stoked with as I only had to get under 12.40 for my age (6 years ago)

My best ever km was 4:13 about 8 years ago - no way I'm getting close to that now.

Did my first 3km in ages the other night in 20:09 as I get back on the horse from heart procedure.

Would have started back in September but fucked my rib cartilage; like an idiot I volunteered to play THP in the last First Grade game of the year and got compressed about ten minutes in. Rest of the game wasn't as much fun as I hoped - haven't even been able to do a pull up in a month.

I’ve been doing short 500m splits for 3-4kms during lockdown at 5:30’km, 6:00’km, 5:00’km, 6:00’km, 4:30’km, 5:30’km, and I’m completely fucked with that. I can’t imagine running a 20 minute 5k (which is about as fast as I’ve ever been) let alone that kind of pace. What a fucking machine.

In good news, I was fucking near 87kgs when we got back from the beach on August 28, and weighed in at my health check on Tuesday at 82.4 kgs, so I should avoid a C grade and follow up appointment with the doctor.

Pfft, speed up slow pokes. Back in the day I had a training time of 52s for 400m and 1:58 for 800m. Best racing times were unfortunately a tad slower at 58 and 2:00.

Of course the day was around 96 when I was 17 and I probably weighed sub 70kg. I think I could maybe double those times now.
