@Yeetyaah Havili deserved some points, too. He set up several of the Mako tries. He made it easy for the outsides to score the tries.

    No BP...

    Well, what to say?

Score was what I was worried it might be, but also at times in that game, probably 20 points shy of where it could have been but for some solid defence for patches, but we just lacked any real punch or continuity.

Robinson a class above in our team, thought Wiseguy earned another start, like the look of Cooper though, just seems to have somethign about him.

Definitely some positives to take form that game (despite the score) and hopefully can build on these combos that are out there

BUt when you look at the team sheets, 5 ABs and chock full of super players, we were always in a battle and a score like that always a high possibility.

Hope our injuries arent bad and we can get back on the board next week.

I think TJ just jizzed all over the microphone.

Seriously, he should not be allowed to commentate on Tasmoney games. It’s embarrassing

    Squeal harder, boys!

    Like a pig! 🙂

Ah well, not an unexpected result and we won’t be the only team that gets a hiding from the Invitation XV.

@Gunner Yeah, only few teams will really be able to challenge them. Auckland, Canterbury, not sure about the rest.

Must admit given the difference in the respective personal , I guess the final result and margin came as no surprise ..Northland probably needed to be at their very best against the Mako who are the current Mitre 10 cup champions ,even to get within 10 points.. Ta$man just to big up front and too much class in the backs..
On a positive note , I thought Tom Robinson was immense ..and I am really wrapt with the way Wiseguy Faiane has taken his opportunities..but I was also pleased with Johnny Cooper , showed some really great touches when he came on..
Tani supporters should not feel down , Ta$man will deal to teams better than Northland ..their depth is staggering, and to think both their normal staring locks are not there, it’s a scary bloody thought..
Could have done without the injuries to Tua and Gregory , .but we at least there’s a bit of depth , but I may have to start a give a little page if we have any more .
To be honest , good to get Ta$man out of the way early .

@kev forgot to say, good shift from Josh Goodhue , given the concussion injuries he’s had over the years , he’s was still throwing himself around for the full 80..I know he’s well respected for his work ethic with both the Taniwha and the Blues.

@Steven-Harris. Josh is getting better all the time. They often get him and Caird mixed up in the commentaries.

    Robinson looks great.

    Shhhhh don’t tell Fozzie

His ability to cover lock could see him called up.

Given the AB squad will be last person in NZ to turn the lights out, he should.

Fortunately they have a number of hard toiling under the radar players. But this thread is not about Canterbury...

Ta$man might have the best attacking backline in the comp. Defensively they could be troubled by a couple of the other teams.

Matt Taylor might need to 'do some F%$k^&g research' himself me thinks.

Going by schools alone (as per the Mako website) the squad contains 10/35 locally schooled players.
I'm sure someone will add a few in that moved to a another area after being in junior rugby in Ta$man but certainly not 18 more as this clown seems to think.

@taniwharugby Thank you sir this idiot has made my day.

I was really proud of the Taniwhas efforts against the (Crusaders) Mako, they should a lot of heart and scored some good tries only trouble is once Northland scrored, Ta$man got two back

@taniwharugby That list is only the opinion of one RugbyPass journo about who he thinks the contenders are. It's not Foster's list of players that will receive the call-up.

@Stargazer no no no, it is definitive!!

Still think one of our main weapons is being under-used: Jordan Hyland.

Granted last night we struggled to just get the ball, let alone dictate where the scraps we got went, but we simply need to get him involved more.

Good to see a bit more mature game from Ranger, with limited ball he didnt squander it like last week, shame Tua injured himself, was looking ok (in spite of a couple of errors)

Low bar, but Gregory was 100 times better than last week too.

Nock-Faiane could grow into a nice combo, Levien looked sharp when he came on too!!

Thought our 3 tries were all well constructed tries, so certainly somethign to build on.

For long periods I thought our defence in the middle was pretty good (although a couple of basic lapses left huge holes) but as we have for a few seasons now, we defend far too narrow across the park allowing them to have players well on the outside.

Next week will be interesting, Tua gone for season? Gregory unknown, no idea if we are allowed Jack next week.

I'd maybe look at starting Te Whata-Colley, scrum seemed a wee bit more solid when he came on, if no Jack or Gregory, Hohaia (who had a couple of nice touches last night) to start and Cooper to FB, have to assume that brings Macilai into the bench too?
