but then you have to worry about grooming and all that shit.

I much prefer grooming a beard once a week than shaving every couple of days.

But I don't know any other way to read "but I figured if I didn’t fancy you, no other woman would either" unless of course ... she has a great sense of humour...

Clearly what she is saying is @Catogrande has the chiseled features of a Greek God, so covering that up with a big ugly beard suited her just fine as other women would be throwing their underwear at him otherwise.

Now every man should have a beard at some time or another. My time was around the time I got married. Wife to be said she liked it so it became sort of permanent, even though I was not so sure. Fast forward to a delayed honeymoon in the South of France where it was bloody hot and the beard itched like the crabs. I had to shave it off and on returning home everyone said what an improvement it was and how a beard really didn’t suit me. Wife chimes in “yeah I didn’t like it at all but I figured if I didn’t fancy you, no other woman would either”.

I’ve never really trusted her stated opinions since.

Could be worse. Imagine getting hitched while bearded, then later shaving it off but getting told by wife to regrow it because she can see your face.

Personally I can't stand the itchiness after about a week. Apparently you have to just get through that stage and it's OK, but then you have to worry about grooming and all that shit.

I've only once made it through the itchy stage during my Uni days, but then the grooming became too much hassle, and people started calling me Jesus, so it had to go if I was to stand a chance with women. Shortly after that shave I met my now wife, I wonder if she would have even looked twice if I still had that shaggy beard!

I'm about to out-grumpy all you motherfuckers with a grizzle about Xmas...yeah, that's right, I'm fucking grumpy about Xmas.

Check out the fucking price of Xmas trees in Sydney this year - a 5 foot midget is $125, a solid 8 footer is $180!!!

    8cc2091f-8c7e-4048-bb32-4c693199095b-image.png

To be fair, I think the proceeds of these go mostly to charity, so I will absolutely be buying one - but I'm not about to let that get in the way of my whinge!

    @voodoo

Charity or not that sort of chiselling is ludicrous.

Not charity related but certainly overcharging related. Had dinner at the Ivy (no not the real one but the Exeter chain one). My guest wanted a kir as an aperitif.
    Oh a Kir Royale?
    No, just Kir.

    Cue explanation.

The Kir eventually arrived OK but when I got the bill they had charged me £6.50 for a shot of cassis! To make matters worse they add on a 12.5% service charge to the whole bill which does not go to the staff.

No not even pooled and dished out among the staff on a monthly basis. It is just swallowed by the company.

I declined to pay it and left some cash instead.

    I hate chisellers.

It helps if you know how to make a Kir, which seemed to stump them at the Ivy. At the risk of seeming condescending, it is simply a glass of dry white with a shot of blackcurrant liqueur (cassis). They charged £7.90 for the wine and £6.50 for the splash of cassis.

    Chiselling fluffybunnies.

I never, ever pay a service charge unless it's specifically mentioned on the menu and, like you, leave a tip in cash.

We've eaten at Paul Aisnworth's restaurant in Padstow and they have a really good system where any tip or service charge is clearly separated from the meal cost. If thay can do it, so can anyone.

Yeah it’s not like he has to scrimp and save and have a loaf of white bread for dinner.

Booked an isolated hotel on the Nth Yorkshire moor for a bit of R&R.

Order a pint and sit down with a book by the fire and some fluffybunny sits down and starts watching the racing from Doncaster at near full fucking volume on his iPad.

The pricks normally have fucking both. Along with Slade's "Merry Christmas Everyone". And don't get me started on John Lennon's "War is Over"...
