@Snowy isnt the evening when they are more active?
Anyway, are usually a few and larvae in it when I destroy it, but when I get them only about half a dozen or so of thier little cells.
The big nest I found had a single entrance to the hole of hell (was maybe 1 cubic foot in size underground) so was easy as I just jammed a coke bottle full of petrol down the hole and left it to kill them all.
As for our kittens (18 months old) they get locked in the garage at night (Mrs TR doesnt like them being out at night due to more likely to get in fights or get hit on the road) because if we leave them roaming the house, she be party time!!

Fixed.

@taniwharugby Nah, less active.
*"The best way to get rid of the paper wasp nests was to douse them in fly spray in the evening, when the paper wasps are less active and less likely to sting.
"[It's also] quite possible to just simply put a plastic bag over [the nest], pick it up and put it in the freezer and freeze them.'*
Like the idea of freezing the fluffybunnies though.

@NTA that too...although one has a bell when she is outside, the other manages to slip it off so we dont bother putting his on.
Cat owner once proudly told me their cat learned to stalk silently with a bell.
I called her a fluffybunny.

Our native rabbits and mice? We do have a native rat. Getting rid of the rodents is generally beneficial to bird populations. Got to have the right cat though.

@Victor-Meldrew COVID
Cats. Hate the fuckers.
Good to see that the consent for a new subdivision in Hamilton included that property sales must include a caveat that banned cats. (this was because it was a bat colony area. One cat can easily kill 100 bats a night)

@Snowy I assume you have a little cat section in your basement for Mark Dennis?
It's a cellar! And no, he seems to be quite unashamed of his massacres. Proud in fact.
My apologies, I hope this mistake doesn't increase my chances of winding up in the cellar?

Also have native skinks and bats. Need to increase the Ruru populations so that they can hunt the cats

It is full of chianti at the moment.

Mark doesn't bother with skinks, there are wascally wabbits out there. He has also been told not to eat bat - look what happened last time someone did that. A ruru would have to be bloody brave to take Mark on!

Ever watched those fuckers hunt? Grab from behind the neck with strong talons then stick the beak into the spinal cord.
Problem is that there is easier prey. The more areas that become pest free the more we will start hearing about raptors killing cats. -

We had that a few years back too. Our then cat - lethal little bastard - sorted them out one evening.
We barely have to feed our cat:
Not actually him (but identical). Rats, mice, and rabbits are too scared to come anywhere near our place with him around. So he goes and finds them and kindly brings them in to show off. Known as Mark Dennis (as in Dark Menace).
Rats are sorted -now I could start on fucking wasps...
That's got me started on cats, or more specifically my cat or more specifically the cat I got as a package deal when my girlfriend moved in. Now I'm generally a cat person. Like them much more than dogs. But this ginger cünt is driving me insane.
I don't know whether he has abandonment issues or is just the cat version of a goldfish. But every morning at 4am without fail, the ginga prick comes in through his cat flap and starts meowing like a mad man. Why? He has food and we're of course where we always are, i.e. farking sleeping. But he does it every single bloody day. Wakes the dead then jumps on our bed and goes to sleep.
And the cat flap. The stupid båstard looks like he's about to pass through a portal to another dimension. He's been through it hundreds of times, yet he still looks like a terrified version of Kurt Russell in Stargate. And despite being able to come and go at will, most of the time he still meows at the door to be let in. Which I don't.
Stupid ginger cünt.
My other half’s cat is pretty adorable but jumpy as fuck. Definitely some trauma from when she was a kitten. I can’t move in the bed without both fucken females freaking out and telling me to be quiet.
The cat also gets more kinds words and cuddles than I do which makes me jealous. I brought this up on our car ride back from holiday and got told to stop being so needy.

@Snowy yeah would have to be an oversized one to take on fully grown cat, even a juvenile cat, have had a few that I have saved; one was being attacked by 2 Tui's while sitting on the road, and the other flew into our window in the day - is rather spooky as you approach it seeing it's head turn fully around to follow you!!
There are some in the tree outside my window.

They can take down rabbits easily as can Karearea who are half the size of Ruru.
They have easier prey that meet there needs though. Ruru will just be lazy and wait near a light and gobble moths.
