IIRC the Highlanders were robbed against the Blues in the semi. Controversial try to James Kerr. Isitolo Maka creating absolute havoc when he came on. Fark that guy should have been one of the greats.
good memory - but Kerr the ex Aucklaner scored for the Crusaders in the final.
Maka was amazing when he was on. Like Sione lauaki - all the physical attributes, but didn't have the consistency to put it on the paddock

Maka was just lazy. Went completely to pie and stayed there. Such a shame.

Usually "penalty try".
Not sure to what he us referring though.

The slight difference there obviously being that he was an Allblack and professional rugby player. And I wasn’t shaming, I said it was a shame. He could have been awesome.

Why can the other sides not replicate it? Why are they consistently behind every bloody year?
Clarity of purpose. Each person in the organisation knows what their role is and how it contributes to success.
A core of All Blacks who insist on a high level of performance. Each player in the squad is clear about their role which enables them to play to their best potential.
I'm reminded of the great Auckland side. A story I recall was how many training sessions they went without dropping a single ball. Perfect practice makes perfect. It's about the standards you insist on.
Small wonder players prefer to go to a franchise with that level of success; they know the value that environment brings to their development.
To maintain this requires a core of experience and careful succession planning. Something organisations can only do when they aren't fighting for survival.

Nowhere near McCaw or Carter. But above Ben Blair.
Yeah he was a very good super player and definitely a vital cog in a handy crusaders team, like Flynn, Thorne, etc. Can't say his talent ever came close to leaving me astonished though. Different strokes eh!

I think he was. Unfortunately he didn’t consistently realise that potential at test level but when on song he was a phenomenal player. So we’ll just agree to disagree. At no stage did I say he was as good as McCaw or Carte. But along with those 2 he was a massive reason for their “second coming” around 2002 onwards.
