Surprisingly. It appears we need a dedicated thread to keep up with the sartorial morons in charge of our sport.

So, to summarise the latest unnecessary kit clash.

Last year in Super Rugby we had this:

instead of these other more sensible options ...

    There were some grumbles ...

Great opportunity to launch another alternative kit to sell to morons.
So early this year we get this:

The Blues, Chiefs, Hurricanes, Crusaders and Highlanders have all released new away jerseys for the upcoming campaign following a 2020 season that saw multiple kit clashes.

When the Highlanders played the Bulls in Pretoria in the final game of the pre-COVID-19 version of Super Rugby, the hosts had to change into their white-and-yellow away kit at halftime as the visitors’ away jersey looked too similar to their home strip.

The Hurricanes faced a similar predicament when they played the Stormers in Cape Town last February, with many finding it difficult to distinguish the two teams apart as the away side wore their grey/blue strip.

The kit clash concerns continued in Super Rugby Aotearoa when the Blues and Highlanders squared off at Eden Park in Auckland.

As the Highlanders’ home jersey was blue and their away kit was blue/green, the Blues were forced to wear their white away jersey while playing in front of their home crowd.

The jersey debacle has seemingly come to an end, though, as the new away jerseys released for the 2021 season are predominantly white.

So, on to the apparent solution of "predominantly white".

When they could have just gone with:

Yes, that is a Hurricanes away jersey in case you didn't know. Not a Blues away jersey.

    Not for arguing.

Just a document of record - for the purposes of pointing and laughing at people so bad at their jobs.

There obviously isn't a strict rule about wearing the away jersey as both the Chiefs and Crusaders wore their home jerseys in the weekend.

While we are talking about the NZ SR jerseys I haven't seen any of the new away jerseys in my local Rebel Sports.

Some more random ones for our viewing pleasure.

To demonstrate the impacts when one team decides to funk up their jersey with some fades.

From overseas. Cardiff v Glasgow in the Pro12. From 2018.

The curse of making your away kit - a grey + normal colour combination. For some unforseen reason this seems not to work.

You'd think the central contracting of the NZ SR kits would have avoided this from 2017, but, no.

@rapido The worst colour clash in NZ has to be BOP vs Taranaki.

I was going to say, no, because they have known this for 100 years, so they always wear a proper alternative kit.

The very first match I attended live was the 1982 promotion-relegation match at Tauranga. IN this match the home team changed kit to the Tauranga sub-union jeresy. Still blue & gold, but not hoops.

But, but a quick search of google images shows me this recent match.
I wonder if this was a confusion of when we flipped from home team changes to away team changes? and each thought the other was wearing their change?

From 2017. Here is an example of clashes that can happen when both team introduce fades into their designs,

Here. We have 2 teams who wear light blue. So home team in standard light blue kit are playing an away team in their change white kit (in theory).

But the light blue team have a white fade, and the white team have a light blue fade.

I think Magpies v Auckland would be worse - although I don't think they've been dumb enough to have it happen in modern times.

TBH, that doesn't really look that bad. The blue and black stripes are in different places on the jersey and the shorts are different. I think they're the easiest to tell apart on this entire page.

if theyre serious about these jerseys being about avoiding clashes, and they wont give highlanders fans what they want, a Maroon kit...then why dont we just stick number on these, at least it woud do the job and for a bright pink kit theyre pretty cool
