Apple TV errrr New TV Suggestions Thread

We have Netflix and NEON but are considering Apple TV.
Looking at our current setup on the smart tv, there isn't an option for Apple TV. How do you purchase it? Do you need specific apple hardware for Apple TV (Like SKY TV)?
I think only later model LGs and Sonys support the Apple TV app. I have a Sony 95G, I believe that was the first Sony range to support the Apple App. Samsungs may also support it now as well?
If your TV supports Airplay 2 and you have and iPhone/iPad you can steam to the tv from that device
Last option would be to purchase an Apple TV unit which will provide the service and do a number of other things, more if you are already embedded in the Apple ecosystem…

I assume you mean AppleTV+ and not an Apple TV?
Edit: @Unite has already beaten me to it.

I just upgraded to the Apple TV 4K as I thought it was about time to make use of my 4K OLED TV when 4K content is available. Very hard to find units in NZ at the moment though due to supply chain problems. I was disappointed to learn that you only get free Apple TV+ once when buying an Apple product, and I won't be able to binge the shows I'd like to watch in a week. Oh well, another short-term subscription coming up...

I had the free year, and then have just kept paying for it, and I tend to watch in cycles so I really should cancel and renew every three months ... but presumably the effort of doing that is not worth $24 to me.

If you use the bundled Apple subscription you get it very cheap.
