I remember Auckland winning every year through the 1980's by 20 points at least every game.Starting after the great Shield game when Auckland took it back from Grizz's team.
That team use to thump Canterbury by 30 points everytime.
Auckland were miles ahead of everyone in fitness and professionalism.
It took Canterbury 5 or 6 years to catch up. -
@African-Monkey thought Gardiner was a loose forward that can cover lock? he's certainly not a wingerðŸ˜

@Chris haha true. So how are you guys gonna fit all your locks in now Gallagher coming along and Gardiner as well?
Gardiner is a LF really who covers lock.Dunshea out for the season.
So I guess Romano,Gallagher and Darry rotating around the 23.LF looks like a squeeze to. Christie,Harmon,Kellow,Gardiner,Prinseep and Grace.
Plus there are a couple of young LF's in Torian Barnes and George Metheven who deserve a crack. It is really the backs we are shit with donkey's like Mcleod, both Punivai Brothers nothing behind Burke and HB is weak behind Drummond.

@FakatavaFuture
2019 - 6 wins 5 losses
2020 - 4 wins 6 losses
2021 - 5 wins 5 lossesIn 3 seasons they have not been able to out perform a coin toss (15 wins 16 losses)
The fact that there are teams like Southland that are essentially amateur makes it even worse
It also highlights how great of a coach Razor was for Canterbury.

They were winning championships immediately before Roberston and immediately after Robertson. In fact, the only Championship they didn't win between 2008 & 2017 was one of the years Roberston was coach

@Chris Craig Dunlea i think he was mid canterbury coach a few years back & wow Canterbury's favorite underated son Matt Todd joining the coaching team can only be good news🙂
Matt Todd was seriously good. Not Marty Holah good, but a damn good player

@Stargazer an England international no less!! First Todd back in the environment now Willi.. who next Tom Taylor?? 🙂
The hope is he's another Razor, the worry is he's one of the other type of promoted ex player who flops as a coach.

@FakatavaAllBlack That should be a pretty good team, epsecially with another ball carrier in the loose forwards. Is Henry Stowers available again?
He’s back playing in Wellington so I’m wondering if he’s signed for the Lions. We are in need of a number 8/6
