Relatively straightforward question - best to worst - encompassing all of the results in their era - and giving some credit for time as assistant coaches.

Recalling the co-coaches saga of 1991 and discounting that as you please - but the Grizz era encompassing that period and Harts main period being a bit later. I'm not including Smith.

You must rank the two Fozzie options!!!

    Lochore
    Wyllie
    Mains
    Hart
    Mitchell
    Henry
    Hansen
    Foster (if he wins)
    Foster (if he doesn't)

Foster (if he wins) must rank as the best given he’s coaching the worst NZ team ever to appear at a World Cup against amazing, generational teams like France, Ireland and SA 😉

In all seriousness, best to worst)

Lochore (reinvigorated a team that was torn apart by Cavaliers tour)
Henry (his team were down to 4th best flyhalf and NZ hadn’t won RWC for 24 years)
    Hansen
    Foster (if he wins)
Mains (best team in RWC. Would have won if it wasn’t for Matt Damon, low flying jumbos and Saint Nelson)
    Mitchell (got Eddie’d)
    Wyllie (got Campo’d)
Hart (that French game was an aberration, but so in keeping with the shit show from 1998)
    Foster (if he doesn’t win)

Is this really a thread to rank coaches, or just another splinter which belongs in the Foster Derangement shit tip?

An interesting discussion, but perhaps can we exclude Foster from this?

I think this is pretty harsh given how he went in 96 and 97.

I’m too young ( or maybe I wasn’t interested enough ) to comment on Lochore or Wyllie. Being 10 and 14 respectively probably doesn’t give me much scope to make much analysis.

    @MajorRage Definitely not.

The most interesting thing for me is to see how people will rate Fozzie if he wins the thing.

It will be a bit boring retrospectively!

Edit: And if you look at my recent posts, I'm probably not suffering from what you call FDS.

I'm still thinking Fozzie is as likely to win as anyone.

@MN5 im the same if im honest...but the bias otago fan in me will also probably claim hart relied on a core of a team that Mains brought together...and probably the same with Hansen and Henry

*dont ask me to back that up with any facts...remember where we are

My worst coaches in no particular order are:
    Mitchell because he dropped Cullen.
Hart because he played Cullen at centre.
Foster because he’s damaged the All Black’s reputation with his shit record.

Hart took a punt on Cullen. If he didn’t we would have had to put up with a far inferior fullback in Glen Osborne.

But, he was never head coach at a World Cup.
