That's not on Southee - he is always optimistic. The slips and keeper should have heard the bat on that and not reviewed.
Still a bit of shape out there... not sure it'll be there much in this test, so take it while you can!

Yes he is more of a choice between Phillips and Ravindra for that allrounders spot.
IMO they should have selected Ravindra ahead of Phillips.
Nicholls on the back of 200 in his last test was always going to get picked. -

Still a good record compared to Fleming who took 111 tests for 9 Cent
Astle 81 tests for 11 centuries.
Nicholls 55 tests for 9 centuries.It is actually harder to score 100s in NZ on the seaming wkts than on some flat tracks overseas.

Not really a good enough reason, though, IMO. The bowling.
Although Phillips has earned a shot, so good for him. Actuallt,maybe it is down to 'banging on door for longer ', that is sonething the leadership values.
But I would have like Ravindra to continue popping while it's hot.

Even when you are not slogging shit still gets wkts,really it was a full toss on middle should have gone over the fence.

Jamieson bowled pretty well especially the length of time he has been out.
I would like to see him use his height a bit more.
Patel got a bit of turn apart from an over when Shanto got hold of a couple he looked threatening.
