    Welsh squad named

    wales.png

Gatland true to his word of blooding new players and picking those in form - helped by injuries and defections to play outside of Wales and not meeting the 25-cap criteria.

Most obvious omission is LRZ who just announced he's heading to the NFL international player pathway (IPP)

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/67995451

Second one for me is Thomas Young of Cardiff. He was head and shoulders above anyone last weekend against Harlequins. Gatland really doesn't rate him.

But congratulations to the two youngsters in the Cardiff back row. Thoroughly deserved. They've both been huge for Cardiff.

Alex Mann - from my local club Aberdare, grew up with his Mum - and Mackenzie Martin.

Dafydd Jenkins is the new captain in the absence of Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake. Very good choice as he's assured his place.

We'll struggle to win set piece and we don't have a 10 that can control the game.

Dogfight for the wooden spoon with Italy and possibly Scotland.

    @MiketheSnow

LRZ a big loss - and a surprise. Not many of the forwards will be giving opposition nightmares, based purely on lack of reputation but not a bad bunch and some serious problems for Gatland sorting out his back row. Some decent quality there.

I too feel a bit sorry for Thomas Young but Reffell has been consistently good for Tigers and of course you would normally have Morgan above him.

But he's picked three of his clubmates who are all inferior to him

Good on LRZ, I'd absolutely do the same if I was him. Year out after RWC, perfect timing.

I give him a snowballs chance in hell in succeeding though.

    Hope he proves me wrong.

I hope Welsh rugby can stick it out for 4 hard years. You'd hope, too, that Warren has the nouse to build a team. Still he may be like Eddie, past his best before date.

    Going to be very difficult.

If he doesn’t then he comes back to Wales for the next RWC cycle fitter, faster, stronger and better coached.

Does anyone know why Magnus Bradbury keeps getting overlooked in the Scottish squad ? Seems to have the goods from what I’ve seen.

Kyle Sinckler, touted as the second coming of props (often by himself), has fallen a long way already

Feyi-Waboso another in a long line of big, powerful wingers who get picked for one or two caps then get discarded.

He’ll be kicking himself he didn’t choose Wales especially with LRZ’s departure
