Yeah, JK ate Campbell's lunch in the GCSB one. Campbell tried his best to land punches all interview and Key just had the bat and pad close together and then left everything outside off stump. A tremendously skilful performance in negating the treachery of the left's most persistent media mouthpiece. Oops, am I using the boxing or the cricket metaphor?
I think it was only a week later when Bridges and Campbell shouted at each other for ten minutes - a completely different game on an equally tough pitch. That one over offshore prospecting?

Phew! Polly has finally got around to letting us know her thoughts. As usual she's managed to make an article about someone else mostly about her.

A nice summary of the success of John Key
Right on for the "shit writing" thread -
"Growing the son of a single mum in the suburbs gave him an everyman’s touch."
Anyone who can grow a single mums son without using artifical fertalizer is a winner in my books. Sereiously when you are cost cutting why does everyone sack the proof reader day 1...

Bill English PM pledges to tackle NZs social problems while keeping to his aspirational market based principles. This could be the left's nightmare realised if he can sell his vision
It is kinda the rights nightmare as well.. to a lesser extent. National are so expertly straddling the middle it is not funny. Are they even a right wing party anymore?
-
@Baron-Silas-Greenback not in an international context - certainly not when compared to USA
National has pretty much almost always been slightly left of centre.
What Key's pragmatism and popularism has done is allow them to adopt anything Labour has espoused that looked like it might have wings.
English's issue will be appeasing some ambitious backbenchers. I think he pretty much has to let Nick Smith go (despite their friendship) ands McCully as well - which should be much easier.
Anything less will not go down well in caucus.
Do that and he can hopefully for Nats walk the tightrope of promising continuity and change at the same time.

They are. But they have evolved to a point where they are broadly dominating the centre leaving labour to move more left to the distaste of middle NZ. Better the nats than the reds. The media were tiring of Key and he of them. This move has flipped the reset switch and so far Bill is getting positive press. If he manages to go on and win the general election next year it will be one of JKs crowning achievements. Contrast this to Helen Clark leaving. She lost the election and promptly pulled the pin leaving Labour devoid of a succession to lead that they have not yet recovered from

@dogmeat is that her restaurant that pays the living wage?
Yeah she was crowing on twitter how labour had got rid of the last two free trade advocates in the weekend .
Her father apparently invented the Jandal but there's some dispute about whether he really did or not. Either way he made a ton of money out of them
-
Actually it's good for labour that she rejoined they were decidedly short of career politicians with union backgrounds.
This reminds me of one the more pathetic episodes of NZ politics . As part of his coalition deal with labour in 1999 Jim Anderton who's regarded as a minor deity among the left insisted on a " waka jumping " bill because he was gutted over Alamein Kopu ditching him and making a deal with the Shipley govt . Anyway they had to amend it in 2002 so Anderton could ditch the alliance which he started because he was pissed off with Labour and start the democrats so he could effectively become part of labour .The alliance got destroyed in the election and Harre said "people voted with their heads and not with their hearts ". You couldn't make this shit up.

Laila Harre is back with labour , interesting that she says she regrets joining the internet party.
She's ex alliance too, that's not great for labour.LOL. Labour is stupid in the extreme to have her anywhere near the party. She is political poison, as has been demonstrated on NUMEROUS occasions.
-
@Mokey I don't think this Labour Party has any idea about what people think, they seem to be living off the notion people hate National, and Key, despite polls saying the opposite, and think that gathering together the biggest bunch of muppets they can will somehow make them better...

Classic leftie political figure: I hate business, apart from spending the money my dad made from business.
Literally the stroppy, know it all, do the opposite of what my parents do or say attitude of a 16 year old girl.

She looks an awful lot like Jill Stein.
