A good innings by England, but we did crawl it back with some consistent wicket taking in the second half of the innings.
310 a good score but NZ will think on this deck and short straight boundaries will be gettable.

Is this a high scoring ground?....
Comments are that it's probably just above par.

@ACT-Crusader The ground looks like it will suit Guppy well, it is not unlike some of our grounds at home with the short boundaries. Here's hoping

Broom and Anderson are just plain stupid, and Taylor has to take a lot of the blame as well for slowing things down when Kane had some nice momentum going. When you are well behind in the game, you don't bloody fluff around and show no urgency whatsoever. I commend Sangakara for giving it to the NZ batsmen today and was a breath of fresh air compared to the cheerleaders that we have in our commentary teams.
Hope the Aussies go through as these clowns certainly don't deserve a place in the semis.

There's "potential" in the order from 5-11 but they've scored no runs in 2 games when the groundwork has been laid for them. Neesham and Anderson are basically the same player and neither of them seems to be good enough to keep the scoreboard ticking and pick off boundaries - once they are "in", their default action is to try to hit a 6 every ball. It will come off once in a while - but not often.
Broom isn't good enough at this level, nor is Ronchi. Taylor has been too slow in both games and then got out when it was time to start accelerating. Kane has made 100 and 87 and not much below a run and a ball overall and he isn't going to succeed every time.
-
To make matters worse:
New Zealand have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate as they were ruled two overs short of the target when time allowances were considered by match referee Andy Pycroft. Captain Kane Williamson accepted a fine of 40% of his match fee, while his players received a fine of 20%.
-
That's a pretty disappointing result overall. I was a little surprised to see us bowl first - I think in the modern game batting first and setting a par score of around 290-300 is the way to go as that allows you to at least try and build some scoreboard pressure in the 2nd innings, even if the ball is not doing much.
Agree with @KiwiPie's summary. We are very reliant on our top 4 scoring the bulk of the runs as we don't seem to get much more then 5-10 runs out of each of our middle-lower order. Annoying that Guppy has got two starts but hasn't gone on with it.
Now we need to beat 7 shades of shit out of Bangladesh to get ahead of Aus who will probably beat England now that England are already through.

@Bovidae The rest of the team should pay his fine as he's carrying a few of them
How many more of these fines does he need to cop before he's faced with a ban?
That's something I hope they are concerned about.
